Success Coach @ Orchard View Middle School
A Success Coach is engaged in graduation assistance activities, including but not limited to working with 6th-8th grade students, school faculty and staff, parents, and guardians as well as coordinating formal (pupil) assessments. The Success Coach provides assistance to all students, individually and in groups, regarding successful promotion to the High School, including but not limited to analyzing data to identify students or subgroups with potential high school graduation problems; planning, implementing, and tracking individual high school graduation plans; identifying and resolving barriers to graduation; and facilitating career choices and planning.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The Middle School Success Coach shall work to improve completion of Middle School grade levels for all population subgroups within the school by performing the following duties and responsibilities.
- Using available indicators for student success, identify students with potential barriers for youth with opportunity;
- Collaborate with feeder elementary school to identify students with potential barriers for youth with opportunity;
- Work with identified students to implement a success and/or achievement plan to reach individual goals;
- Coordinate the administration of assessments for Middle School such as:

State Standardized Tests: MSTEP
- National Standardized Tests: SAT and ACT
- Develop and implement individual intervention strategies to reduce barriers to successful completion of Middle School grades;
- Work with students to develop a plan for progression to the next grade which can include the best program to meet academic and post-secondary goals;
- Track the progress of individual and subpopulations of students as they progress toward High School status;
- Identify and link area social agencies with youth with opportunity and their parents/guardians;
- Track the progress of identified students (students on caseload) as they progress toward academic success and individual goals per the implemented plan. Once identified students meet established goals based on the established intervention plan, they will be exited/removed from the coach’s caseload;
- Conduct evaluation intervention(s) and program effectiveness such as: a) Interventions most utilized and/or successful in written plans created for each identified student; b) Number and percent of identified students who met part or all their goals in their caseload.
QUALIFICATIONS
- B.A. degree in Education/Social Work/Counseling or related area preferred.
- Successful experiences working with at-risk students.
- Working knowledge of appropriate strategies for reducing behaviors that pose barriers to school success.
- Ability to communicate effectively with youth and adults.
- Ability to analyze, implement, track, and report data about intervention plans and strategies for caseload.
- Self-starter with a flexible, growth mindset, and ability to function “on the go.”
- Understanding of social services available to support the success of all families and learners.
- Ability to organize and administer State testing for Middle School programs.
Reports to the Middle School Administration. (38 weeks per year, salary based upon education and experience).
