Job Description

The Childcare Lead will work directly with elementary age students, infants and toddlers in the Small Blessings Child Care program; where we value all children as true blessings from God.  Reporting to the Childcare Director, the Lead will assist in nurturing a culture that emphasizes quality experiences for children, collaborative relationships, continuous improvement, and high performance.

Essential Functions

(This job posting is not an exhaustive list of the duties performed for the position): 

  • Works with a diverse community base while maintaining compassion, professionalism, and confidentiality
  • Follows all policies, administrative guidelines and building regulations
  • May work varying shifts.  The center will be open 7:30 am - 6:00 pm, 52 weeks per year.
  • Collaborates with childcare director in developing weekly lesson plans.  These lesson plans include activities for the children in care during the school day and activities for those children who only attend after school care.
  • Assists childcare director in the supervision of childcare assistants
  • Follows standards of behavior and discipline for the purpose of ensuring the safety and well-being of students
  • Reports observations and incidents (e.g. discipline, accidents, inappropriate social behavior, etc.) according to facility’s policy and procedures
  • Maintains up-to-date certification in First Aid and CPR to ensure the ability to provide the proper care and treatment when needed
  • Follows and implements all childcare policies and procedures

Other Functions

  • Assists other personnel as may be required for the purpose of supporting them in the completion of their work activities
  • Provides proper care, management, and reasonable security for all district property in their custody (e.g. equipment, supplies, classroom, facilities, etc.) for the purpose of maintaining inventories, preventing damage and/or theft
  • Performs other related duties as assigned for the purpose of ensuring an efficient and effective work environment
  • Maintains confidentiality and loyalty to employer
  • Promotes a positive image of MCC at all times
  • Willing to perform other duties as necessary and/or directed by the Child Care Director

Qualifications

Must possess one of the following qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher early childhood education, child development or a Child-Related Field
  • Montessori credential with 480 hours of experience
  • Associate’s degree or higher in early childhood education or child development
  • Valid child development associate credential with 480 hours of experience
  • High school diploma/GED with 12 semester hours in early childhood education, child development or a child-related field with 960 hours of experience
  • High school diploma/GED with 12 semester hours, 18 CEUs or a combination equal to 18 clock hours in early childhood education, child development or a child-related field with 1,920 hours of experience
  • High school diploma/GED with 6 semester hours, 9 CEUs or a combination equal to 9 clock hours in early childhood education, child development or a child-related field with 3,840 hours of experience

Must possess all of the following qualifications:

  • Must have current certification in infant, child, and adult cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and first aid
  • Must complete 16 clock hours of annual training
  • Prefer an active, practicing Catholic
  • Compliant with Diocese of Grand Rapids Safe Environment policy
  • Experience and training in utilizing school-wide Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS) to improve student behavioral and academic outcomes
  • Understand, embrace, and be able to articulate the mission and vision of Muskegon Catholic Central.
