Muskingum University invites applications for the Associate Director of Cultural Engagement and Inclusion ("CEI"). The Associate Director will support Muskingum University’s commitment to inclusive excellence by coordinating and providing programming to the campus community. The Associate Director is a critical partner and ally to those with a variety of identities and life experiences, such as: race/ethnicity, socio-economic status, gender, sexual orientation, and religion. Part of a holistic team of campus educators, the Associate Director collaborates with staff and faculty across divisions to foster a culture of inclusion and belonging.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Coordinate the design and implementation of heritage and other CEI programing with a focus on educating and celebrating the campus community.
  • Oversee BIPOC peer mentorship program.
  • Provide diversity and inclusivity training and resources to various campus groups.
  • Advise student organizations associated with the CEI Office as needed.
  • Collaborate with academic affairs, student experience, athletics, and other key departments to build inclusive student engagement and sense of belonging through educational, social, and leadership-based programming.
  • Collaborate with campus partners to ensure a strong, campus-wide network of support for the recruitment and retention of diverse students.
  • Coordinate international student support services and international student programming, such as orientation, off-campus excursions, and the International Dinner.
  • Supervise student drivers and coordinate student transportation needs.
  • Maintain documentation of programming and assist with assessment of programing.
  • In collaboration with the Office of Human Relations & Risk Management, participate in the University’s response plan for bias-related incidents, including documenting and sharing student concerns in a timely manner and providing resources for these impacted.
  • Maintain the CEI website, providing educational content that celebrate, support, and promote cultural engagement and inclusion.
  • Manage CEI student activities budget.
  • Serve as an academic coach for student of a variety of identities.
  • Participate on University committees, such as the Academic Concerns Team and the Academic Inclusion and Belonging Committee.
  • Provide guidance to foster development of the CEI Graduate Assistant

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

  • Master’s degree in college student development or related area highly preferred; Bachelor’s degree with significant professional experience in higher education acceptable.
  • At least 3 years’ experience developing and implementing diversity, equity, and inclusion programming.
  • Demonstrated competency working with individuals from a wide array of identities and life experiences.
  • Ability to establish and maintain productive and meaningful relationships with members of the campus community and external stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated ability to advance diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives while engaging stakeholders who may have a variety of ideas and needs.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and an ability to inspire and influence others, across multiple groups and settings.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, including being an active listener and facilitator.
  • Strong organizational skills in order to manage concurrent projects with a high level of detail.
  • Ability to maintain discretion and privacy.
  • Knowledge of and appreciation for the ideals and unique qualities of a residential, liberal arts university preferred.
  • Experience advising or supporting student success preferred
