Description: The Director of Finance will report to the Chief Administrative Officer and will be responsible for the day-to-day financial and accounting functions for the company. This job requires the individual to work closely with Mutual’s Senior Accounting Specialist who will be primarily responsible for all Client Compensation and Reporting. Mutual Group seeks an individual with a strong accounting discipline who is highly process oriented and has the ability to manage a team of accounting associates to ensure consistent, timely and accurate financial and accounting functions are performed.
Responsibilities & Activities:
- Oversees the operations of the Accounting Department, which include accounts payable, accounts receivable, bank reconciliations, and advisor payroll.
- Maintain a documented system of accounting policies and procedures; implement a system of controls over accounting activities, including periodic reviews of department policies and procedures
- Prepare accurate and timely financial statements and regulatory reports that comply with generally accepted accounting principles and regulatory reporting standards.
- Reconcile and analyze information from a variety of sources to support internal/external audits
- Oversee the accurate and timely preparation of periodic financial statements, activity reports, financial forecasts, and annual budgets.
- Works collaboratively with leadership team to provide insightful analysis in support of meeting company goals
- Performs other related duties as necessary or assigned.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Focus:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance
- Minimum 7 years’ experience in a senior accounting/corporate financial management role
- Communicates fluently in writing and conversationally on technical, financial related topics
- Highly proficient with Microsoft Excel and QuickBooks
- Demonstrated problem-solving and decision-making skills
- Highly organized and process-driven
- A solid understanding of GAAP and other financial principles, and the ability to use and implement these principles in the execution of the responsibilities of the position.
- Ability to interact with CPAs and auditors to support corporate tax filings and audits
- Preferred: knowledge of FINRA regulations, including net capital and aggregate indebtedness calculations for broker-dealers. Securities licenses a plus (S27 or S28)

- We believe valuable experience can be gained from working on-site, but we will consider hybrid and remote arrangements as well.
