Job Summary:
MVP's Quality department focuses on improving the clinical well-being of MVP members by focusing on improving key metrics of care. The Quality department is seeking a highly driven, curious, and detail-oriented candidate for the position of Informatics Analyst. This position will direct report to the Leader, Quality Analytics be responsible for preparation of analyses in support of key quality improvement and other health management interventions as well as support the development of analytical solutions. The Informatics analyst will take lead on designing and implementing quantitative and qualitative program evaluations to measure the impact of quality improvement and other health management interventions as well as support the development of analytical solutions. Analyses involve independent structuring of a study including initial evaluation of the request, consulting with internal stakeholders on business needs; acquiring and assembling data; developing metrics and measures, and production of high quality, professional reports for distribution. Ability to produce and review trend reports and prepare supplemental drill down reports. Must be able to prepare visual aids (charts, graphs) or summaries to assist with explanation of the findings. Must also provide adequate documentation of how analysis was performed and be responsible for applying necessary checks and balances to ensure quality and accuracy or report. Candidates must possess good analytical skills with a focus on meeting the expectations and requirements of both internal and external customers. Must be a self-motivated individual who needs little supervision and has ability to perform under pressure. Performs other duties as assigned.
Essential Job Functions:
- Work closely with customers in determining analytic needs and present and interpret outcomes of statistical analyses to customers.
- Leverage analytical knowledge to drive the development of reporting and implement data-driven recommendations and outcomes.
- Translate key findings into clear and useful business insights for quality team, and organization leadership.
- Develop and interpret sophisticated data products (visualizations, insights, etc.) for business users.
- Perform data extraction, aggregation, and quality checking from multiple sources and tables in the support of trend identification, root cause analysis, program evaluation, population identification, quality improvement.
- Identify gaps and opportunities to improve efficiencies, acquisition, and quality performance in member groups - segmentation, response models, profitability models.
- Develop dashboards and automate quality campaign reporting process and leverage advanced analytical knowledge to drive the development of analytical solutions and implement data-driven recommendations and outcomes.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Education:
Bachelor's Degree in Business, Math or related field required. Master's degree strongly preferred with a quantitative (i.e. actuarial, statistics, economics, engineering, computer, science, applied math, etc.) or healthcare major (i.e. health administration, public health, medicine, etc.).
Minimum Experience:
2 to 5 years of experience working with quality performance or other healthcare data.
Minimum 2 years of experience developing database driven projects using T-SQL, SAS, Python or R .
Minimum 2 years of experience or education training in statistical stratification, sampling, and cohort driven data modeling and analysis.
Required Skills:
- Advanced SQL, R, Python experience required; in-depth understanding of relational database concepts and/or multi-dimensional models.
- Knowledge of health plan-specific datasets (i.e. claims, eligibility, etc.) reporting /analytic uses (i.e. cost and utilization reporting, disease management, etc.) and terminology (i.e. PMPM, and per 1000 measures, diagnosis/procedure codes, episode groupers, risk adjustment, etc.) strongly preferred.
- Ability to handle and manipulate large complex healthcare related datasets.
- Superior problem solving, analytic skills and an ability to analyze large volumes of data and identify trends and anomalies.
- Experienced in Microsoft Excel, Word and proficient in other MS Office tools such as PowerPoint and Power BI.
- Ability to work independently, as well as work effectively as a member of a team.
- Professionally skilled in personal presentation, verbal, and written communication.
- Ability to prioritize multiple assignments with attention to details and deadlines in a high-volume environment.
- Proven ability to build relationships with business and technical partners to improve customer service and continuously improve project delivery.
- Must be self-motivated, proactive, and able to work well under pressure.
- Ability to handle multiple priorities.
Preferred Skills:
- Experience with quality performance data, especially HEDIS
- Experience with claims processing systems, specifically, the FACETS operating system
- Experience with Power BI
- Health insurance or industry related experience
