What are the responsibilities and job description for the Maintenance position at MW Industries ?

The Maintenance Technician is responsible for the upkeep of the equipment and the property at the Logansport facility. Coordinates activities of installation, repair, and maintenance of the grounds, Building, utility systems, manufacturing equipment, machines tools, and all associated equipment of company.

Essential Functions:

  • Under minimal supervision, installs, repairs, and maintains in accordance with machine manuals, prints, or by referral to building codes:
    • Physical structures.
    • Electrical wiring.
    • Plumbing and fixtures.
  • Inspect, repair, install and wire all electrical apparatus, devices and circuits, up to 480 vac and/or 550 v dc, in the plants or assigned area. 
  • Inspect, repair, replace, install, move, adjust, set up and maintain all mechanical equipment.
  • Analyze all types of drawing and wiring diagrams to locate and install circuits and equipment to determine material requirement needs and to select a logical approach to “trouble shooting” and repairing problems.
  • Install conduit, fittings, switches, controls and fixtures, and wires and connect all types of electrical equipment as    required for new installation or replacement of facilities.
  • Make all required splices and connector joints. 
  • Adjust all new equipment for proper operating characteristics.
  • Inspect mechanical equipment for defects and insufficient lubrication, etc. 
  • Determine the best method of making repairs to minimize interruption of production. 
  • Advise when immediate shutdown of equipment is necessary to minimize damage or when temporarily continued operation will have no harmful effect to the equipment or to the operator.
  • Assists higher-level maintenance.
  • Assure all policies and procedures are followed and safety precautions are taken to reduce the risk of injury.
  • Responsible for facility and ground maintenance.
  • Expected to be on call.
  • Occasional travel may be necessary.
  • Occasional use of personal vehicle may be needed for pickup/delivery of machine parts.
  • Other maintenance and facilities duties as assigned.
  • Once employee demonstrates competency in position, he/she may be required to train others in similar roles.

Essential Skills:

  • Must have skills in motor and engine, single and 3-phase electric, pneumatic equipment, PLCs, and general mechanical aptitude.
  • Must have computer literacy skills. Strong initiative required to accomplish departmental and corporate objectives.
  • Interpersonal communication and teamwork skills required.
  • Strong organizational skills required. Ability to handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
  • Good problem-solving skills and required to utilize continuous improvement skills.
  • Ability to perform diversified tasks.
  • Ability to demonstrate good customer service skills by being responsive and following up to customer needs.

Experience and Education:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum of three years previous experience in the field.
  • Previous  preventive maintenance experience required.
  • Must be able to read both blueprints and schematics.
  • Be willing to attend school for training as needed.
  • Ability to work modified hours and overtime.
