Slayden Constructors Inc is currently seeking an experienced Lead Construction Estimator to be based out of our company headquarters in Stayton, Oregon ( 15 minutes East of Salem).
The Lead Construction Estimator will prepare cost estimates at different levels of design for various delivery systems such as Construction Manager / General Contractor (CMGC), Design Build and Hard Bid. Projects will consist of wastewater treatment facilities, potable water treatment facilities, hydropower facilities, fisheries, pipelines and various water infrastructure ranging from $1-100 million dollars.

Essential Functions
- Review solicitation documents such as specifications and drawings to identify risks and opportunities related to competitive pricing
- Prepare cost estimates on proposals, projects and studies and ensure that the content of the estimate is complete, accurate and meets the requirements of the estimate qualifications.
- Coordinate and review the variable estimating factors in each area with Engineering, Procurement and Operations.
- Provide technical advice and assistance to the Estimating Team in the preparation of all levels of estimates ranging in scope and complexity.
- Assist the estimating team with an independent assessment of an estimate's accuracy (upon completion of the estimate and summarization of all detailed man-hours, material, construction, and home office costs).
- Coordinate the performance of pricing structure development and application to takeoffs, derived quantities, quantity assumption, and cost allowances.
- Obtain and verify construction quotations for facilitation of construction projects, addenda's and contract changes.
- Obtain and verify subcontractor questions for construction projects and ensures compliance with construction documents.
- Compile and analyze bids. Must be able to understand and help develop Work Breakdown Structure Codes, Cost and Resource Loading.
- Develop reports for all review processes.
- Provide constructability reviews and guidance to the operations team to ensure the preliminary costs of the projects.
- Actively research, solicit, and develop a network of relationships within the supply chain.
- Review and incorporate historical data from purchase orders, subcontractors, and productivity analysis reports in order to continuously improve estimating accuracy.
Basic Qualifications
- 10 years of relevant construction experience of which 5 plus years of estimating experience
- Previous experience on heavy construction projects or industrial projects
- Possess a 4-year Construction Management, Engineering degree, or equivalent field experience in construction project environments.
- Working knowledge of construction equipment and techniques, drawings, and specifications, building materials and required standards applicable to discipline desirable.
- Interfaces and communicates effectively with others.
- Must be proficient in using MS Word, and Excel
Preferred Qualifications
- 10 years of relevant estimating experience including water/wastewater treatment facilities
- Field experience
- Knowledge or experience in CMAR, Design-Build, and Hard-Bid estimates
- Cost control and scheduling exposure is a plus
- HCSS Heavybid estimating software knowledge is a plus
- Planswift software knowledge is a plus
