Primary Responsibilities
The Private Event Bartender is responsible for providing exceptional experiences for The Battery’s members and guests through warm, intuitive, and personalized service.
The Bartender will provide timely, accurate and friendly service while preparing the highest quality beverages for our guests.
Bartenders must actively embody The Battery’s standards while in the workplace, both in interaction with fellow service team members, kitchen staff, guests, and management.
All work related duties must be done onsite.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES :

- Greet guests, accurately take food and drink order and enter it into the POS.
- Extensive knowledge of spirits, beer, wine, and classic cocktails.
- Able to quickly and consistently execute drinks; classic and craft cocktails.
- Must participate in daily service meetings and be able to answer specific questions when called upon.
- Must have detailed knowledge of our wine and spirits selection, including technical and service aspects.
- Take ownership of bar, including support staff, ensuring that all guests are happy.
- Articulately describe food and beverage programs in other outlets of the property.
- Responsible for adhering to established accounting procedures for all transactions and accurately close checks of any tender.
- Ongoing cleaning and maintenance of physical plant and workstation according to established restaurant procedures. This includes pre-shift, post-shift, daily, weekly, and monthly duties as assigned by management.
- Must have a comprehensive knowledge of menu items, food preparation techniques, and culinary terminology.
- Ensure proper set up of the bar from beginning to end of service.
- Stocking and maintenance of par levels for all bar products, including the maintenance of wine by the glass and draft beer program.
- Work as a cohesive, unified service team with the rest of the FOH service staff.
- With the guidance of floor managers and F&B directors, may be asked to train new bar staff.
- Must report problem situations to management immediately.
- May be responsible for correct transferring of checks when necessary.
- Required to attend mandatory meetings when scheduled.
- Prepare, pour, and serve a variety of alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks.
- Prepare drinks quickly and efficiently by hand and by using machines.
- Responsible for the setup for events, must regularly carry trays, serve guests, speak with guests, explain food and drink items, and clean up at the event's conclusion.
Set up can include putting out tablecloths and place settings, arranging table placement and putting up food stations or event equipment as set forth by the Banquet Event Order (BEO) and / or Event Manager.
- Adhere to health and safety standards at all times, even when closing down at the end of the event, which may include breaking down the table set up and taking tablecloths and linens to the laundry.
- Never accept payment from customers and decline tips from guests.
- Check customer identification.
- Watch for customers who are intoxicated and stop serving them drinks.
- Wash glassware and maintain clean conditions in the bar area at all times.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Must have and be able to do all of the following.
- At least 21 years of age.
- High school education or equivalent.
- Must hold a valid Food Handler’s Card.
- Must hold a valid Responsible Beverage Service certification.
- Minimum three years of bartending experience in an upscale casual or fine dining atmosphere preferred.
- Able to perform bar back duties.
- Read, write, speak, and understand English comprehensively.
- Basic math skills.
- Basic computer skills preferred.
- Deal with guests in a professional manner while maintaining a composed demeanor in high stress situations.
WORKING ENVIRONMENT / MINIMUM PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS :
You must the physical, visual, and auditory ability to perform the essential functions of the job, with or without reasonable accommodations and be able to meet the following requirements :
- Heavy member / guest contact is required.
- Must be able to tolerate varying noise levels, temperature, and illumination and air quality.
- Requires hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity.
- Requires normal sense or smell, taste, touch and sound.
- Respond to visual or aural cues.
- Continuously or periodically bend, twist, lean, lift, push, pull, kneel, bend, walk, stand, and / or sit up to 8 hours per shift.
- Lift up to 50 pounds in order to perform the essential functions.
- Work in a stressful environment and stressful situations.
- Work in an environment where climate constantly changes.
- Maneuver freely through all areas of the property.
