Our childcare center is in search of qualified workers to help monitor and lead activities throughout the day. Help kids engage in tasks and games designed to promote analytical thinking skills and cooperation, and assist them in working with others to resolve conflicts and encourage cooperation. This job will help you develop excellent skills and techniques that can benefit you in both your personal life and in future careers in child development.
Job Responsibilities
- Supervise and lead children in daily activities, including play time reading hour, art projects, and snack and lunch time.
- Educate yourself on all state compliance regulations related to childcare as well as our own internal policies and procedures, and enforce them (when necessary) in a professional yet caring manner.
- Teach the parents and children you work with all of our center's rules in regards to safety and cooperation to help foster a safer and more structured work environment as well as bolster client confidence.
- Assist children in learning to work together through a variety of interactive games and activities designed to encourage cooperation. Assist in successfully resolving conflicts as they arise.
- Help prepare children for lunch and snack times, and assist others on staff in handing out food and beverage items. Lead the children in the cleanup of trays, cups and the eating area after every meal.
- Contact local public agencies, private corporations and civic groups to help arrange special activities and visitors at our childcare center.
- Participate in one-on-one sessions with parents whenever issues involving a child's behavior at the center need to be addressed, or when such a meeting is requested by the parents.
Job Skills & Qualifications
- Must be 18 years of age
- High School diploma or GED
- Willing to work from 2 to 6 pm (occasionally cover lunches)
- Must be able to lift 30-40 lbs.
- Good team player: strong ability to work effectively and support other members of the team
- Strong ability to work effectively with children, parents, teachers, ECE students and instructors, management, administrators, and other relevant stakeholders
- Strong ability to create a stimulating, caring, safe, and enjoyable learning environment for children
- Knowledge of state regulations and national accreditation principles and the ability to adhere to them in carrying out duties
- Good knowledge of methods of instruction, care, supervision, and practices of toddlers, preschool-age children, and/or infants in a learning environment
- Solid knowledge of practices and procedures for maintaining safety in classrooms and playgrounds
- Competence in the use of English language, including grammar, punctuation, and spelling
- Ability to communicate orally and in writing
- Ability to keep student records and files confidential
- Ability to understand given instructions (oral or written) and carry them out correctly
- Ability to apply discretion, tact, patience, and courtesy in handling sensitive and difficult situations and individuals
- Assist Lead Teacher with both long and short range activities in accordance with curriculum objectives, developmentally appropriate practice and program philosophy
- Provide input for bi-annual assessment of children's development
- Maintain daily open communication with parents
- Keep accident reports
- Report any suspect abuse to supervisor
- Arrange a classroom environment in accordance to program goals and philosophy
- Inspect and replace damaged or lost materials
- Maintain a safe and healthy environment
- Attend in-service and staff meetings
- Keep all appropriate records such as attendance and timesheets
- Meet applicable licensing regulations
- Possess high school diploma or its equivalent in addition to experience working with children
- A degree in Childhood Education, Family and Child Services, Child Development, or Early Childhood Special Education is preferred
- Completion of CPR/First Aid and State Mandated 45 Clock Hour Training

Pay: $12.00 - $13.50 per hour
