About the Position:
My Left Foot Children’s Therapy is currently seeking a Patient Financial Services Supervisor to strengthen our support team. The major roles of the Patient Financial Services Supervisor at My Left Foot Children’s Therapy will be to lead, manage, and support a dynamic team of Patient Financial Service representatives in the day-to-day operations of our Patient Financial Services department, and to serve as an expert in matters pertaining to eligibility and insurance verifications, authorizations, coding, charge entries, payment postings, denials, follow-ups, appeals, claim resubmissions, researching claims, disputing underpayments and denials, and all laws and regulations related to all functions of the PFS department. This is a full-time, salaried position, working onsite daily.
Your Responsibilities as our Patient Financial Services Supervisor:
- To lead, manage, and support a dynamic team of 7-10 Patient Financial Service representatives in the day-to-day operations of our Patient Financial Services department
- To serve as an expert in matters pertaining to eligibility and insurance verification, authorizations, coding, charge entries, payment postings, denials, follow-ups, appeals, claim resubmissions, researching claims, and disputing underpayments and denials
- To maintain the highest level of expertise on healthcare billing laws, rules, and regulations
- To continually stay abreast of the ever-changing Medicaid and 3rd party payor-specific regulations and ensure that My Left Foot Children’s Therapy is compliant with all regulations, including all billing and documentation requirements
- To ensure that all PFS staff, and specialists are up-to-date and well-informed of all required codes, billing forms, electronic claims processing tools, and documentation rules, and that they are adhering to all regulations, guidelines, statutes, and contract requirements
- To create an open-door policy and a supportive environment so that supervisors and staff feel comfortable bringing problems and issues related to insurance authorizations, billing, coding, claims, or denials, to you for guidance, as they happen
- To ensure that all areas of the Patient Financial Services department are fully staffed, and all vacant positions are filled with qualified personnel
- To review resumes of applicants for vacant Patient Financial Services positions, to select qualified candidates for interviews, to interview qualified candidates, and to hire the best candidates based on their skills, knowledge, experience, and abilities
- To maintain PFS department work schedules, and to monitor attendance, punctuality, and performance
- To receive time-off requests for Patient Financial Services department employees, to approve or deny time-off requests per company policy, and to coordinate adequate coverage for all approved time-off requests
- To ensure and coordinate adequate coverage for employee call-outs within the Patient Financial Services department
- To conduct semi-annual performance reviews for all PFS coordinators and specialists, to prepare formal performance evaluations, to submit those evaluations to HR, and to set individualized personal performance goals and objectives for each PFS coordinator and specialist based on their evaluations
- To report to HR any company policy infractions made by PFS staff members, to counsel PFS staff members, and to implement performance improvement plans, as necessary, in a positive, constructive way
- To collaborate with Human Resource department to determine when to release PFS staff members for not meeting or maintaining job performance or efficiency requirements, or for not following policies or procedures as set forth in our Policies and Procedures manual
- To continually monitor and document key performance indicators within the Patient Financial Services department and to immediately report anomalies or abnormalities to management
- To prepare weekly, monthly, and annual Patient Financial Services departmental reports with specified KPIs, and submit them to the management
- To conduct routine audits to ensure that all Patient Financial Service systems are functioning properly, and to identify and communicate any possible system problems or inefficiencies to management
- To proactively identify problems and provide appropriate solutions to all issues surrounding authorizations, claims, reimbursements, denials, or appeals with Medicaid or our commercial payors
- To report any major or systemic issues within the Patient Financial Services department to the management
- To answer patient questions and resolve patient complaints with exceptional courtesy, kindness, and respect, and in a timely manner
- To maintain confidentiality and respect for personal information of patients and employees of My Left Foot Children’s Therapy
- To serve as a role model upholding the mission, ethics, policies, and procedural standards of My Left Foot Children’s Therapy
- To foster a culture of inclusivity, equality, and respect between our employees, our management, our patients, and our community
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in Healthcare Administration, Business Administration, or a related field (or 5 years of full-time experience in a supervisory/leadership capacity in medical insurance/billing)
Qualifications:
- A thorough understanding of the complete Revenue Cycle including eligibility and insurance verification, coding, charge entry, payment posting, denials follow-up, appeals, claim resubmission, researching claims, and disputing underpayments and denials
- Knowledge of medical terminology, medical insurance, Medicaid, electronic medical records, CPT codes, ICD-10 coding, and HIPPA compliance requirements
- Experience with current healthcare and analytic technologies and systems including but not limited to Availity and Nevada Medicaid
- Ability to communicate clearly and effectively - in writing, verbally, and by charts, graphs, and other various data representations -at all organizational levels
Experience:
- Must possess a minimum of 5 years’ experience in management/supervision of employees in a healthcare setting
Physical Requirements:
