What are the responsibilities and job description for the Field Mechanic - Generous 401k Plan position at MYR Group?
The Field Mechanic position consists of servicing and repairing MYR equipment and providing support to the construction crews in our Richmond Virginia areas. This position is in the field and travel and overtime required. The Field Mechanic will be based out of based out of Glen Allen but will require travel to outlying areas.

Essential Functions
Perform repairs and preventative maintenance on electrical construction and transportation equipment

MYR equipment to include but not limited to:
Bucket trucks
Boom trucks
Construction equipment
Digger derricks
Overhead pullers and tension machines
Aerial lifts
Large mobile cranes
Class 1 to 8 vehicles
Dozers and other construction equipment
Construct, maintain, and test mechanical equipment
Regular and predictable attendance
Other duties as assigned
Essential functions of this position are to be performed in a Company-designated office or field location
Understand and comply with the Company’s Code of Business Conduct and Ethics and other industry-specific professional and ethical conduct standards, if applicable
Qualifications
- Minimum 5 years of experience on Class 1 to Class 8 chassis service and repairs
- Minimum 5 years of experience in hydraulic systems
- Minimum 5 years of experience on dirt equipment (backhoes, dozers, etc)
- High school diploma or GED
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
- Experience on aerial equipment (insulated bucket trucks, digger derricks, and large mobile cranes) preferred
- Valid CDL B license (or higher) or willingness to obtain one within 90 days of hire
- The ability to multitask and identify parts or machines that need new components, or need to be replaced, will be necessary
Compensation & Benefits
- Salary commensurate with experience with weekly pay. Posted salary ranges are made in good faith. MYR Group reserves the right to adjust ranges depending on the qualifications of the selected candidate.
