About the Chief Strategy Office
The Chief Strategy Office (CSO) leads and oversees the development, communication, and execution of the NAACP’s mission-driven strategies. The CSO is primarily responsible for the alignment and integration of the Association’s goals throughout all levels of the organization. This focus includes various high-impact initiatives, leveraging strategies leading to sustainable growth, a comprehensive policy agenda, and innovation.
About the Development Team
The Development Team consists of three pillars: individual giving, institutional giving, and development operations. The individual and institutional giving teams are comprised of gifts officers focused on frontline fundraising, who oversee a comprehensive moves management process to identify potential donors and steward them through their giving journey with the NAACP.
About the Major Gifts Officer ($100K )
The Major Gifts Officer (MGO) is responsible for actively driving the Development Department’s fundraising efforts with a focus on individual donors and major gifts ($100,000 ). This position works under the direction of the Vice President, Individual Giving, and in collaboration with the Development Department, to assure that ample unrestricted and program funds are generated to enhance and support the overall mission of NAACP.
The ideal candidate will be a development professional who thrives at frontline fundraising work in a fast-paced, high-growth work environment. A willingness to work as part of a team and respond quickly to changing dynamics is also necessary for success. With high-impact development management experience, the ideal candidate will have the ability to work collaboratively with all staff and volunteers in a diverse and brisk environment; is self-motivated and highly organized, with exceptional attention to accuracy; is flexible with the ability to manage multiple deadlines simultaneously, and has a keen passion for racial equity and social justice and strong alignment with NAACP’s mission and values.
Under the supervision of, and working closely with the Vice President of Individual Giving, the MGO is responsible for managing a portfolio of donors and prospects with the capacity to make contributions of $100,000 . The MGO builds meaningful relationships with current and new major donors, moving donors through the giving pipeline, and working with the Vice President of Individual Giving to build and diversify the donor base.
