Purchasing Agent Job Description
The successful candidate will be actively involved with the operating and projects teams for the buying of products, materials, and services in a professionally coordinated way. Their responsibilities also include monitoring purchasing expenses and keeping track of accounts and contracts, as well as monitoring inventory for replenishment. Purchasing Agents will have to be competent in their responsibility for negotiating with suppliers and sellers of the assorted products and services as well as coordinate the logistics of having them delivered. Their duties also include price evaluations, market assessments, product ordering, record keeping and tracking of inbound orders. This employee will report directly to Nacelle’s Business Process & Implementation Manager while working with internal stakeholders as well as third party vendors. This position will require planning skills including detailed organization of vendors, schedules, budgets while making real time assessments and adjustments to maximize cost efficiencies. With a customer-centric focus, Purchasing Agents must possess a strong desire to learn, a strong capacity for attention to detail and must possess the desire to gain the knowledge and ability to aide in implementing solutions.
Responsibilities
· Develop profitable purchasing strategies by identifying cost-effective sources for materials
· Develop RFQ’s and analyze for best pricing and service
- Prepare and implement effective negotiation tactics
- Manage relationships with key suppliers to maintain quality of goods, timely delivery and compliance to terms of contracts
- Create purchase orders for project materials related to new equipment/plant builds
- Create purchase orders for inventory replenishment based on re-order reports and internal customer needs
- Ability to understand purchasing process and impact to accounting/general ledger on backend
- Monitor and expedite open purchase orders for on-time delivery
- Maintain updated records for tracking purposes
- Sourcing suppliers based on price, availability, necessity, quality and logistical expenses
- Assessing vendors and their offerings with in-person visits, interviews and analysis to assess their quality
- Collaborating with various internal departments to ensure that they fulfill all customer requests
- Perform administrative office duties as may be assigned
Qualifications
- Five (5) years’ experience as a purchasing agent or relevant role
- Demonstrable experience in negotiating prices and terms and conditions
- Knowledge of market research, data analysis and purchasing best practices
- Valid driver’s license
· Computer skills including proficiency in Outlook; Microsoft Excel, Word, and Power Point
· Experience working in SAP’s Purchasing & Materials Management modules preferred
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- A strong analytical mindset
- Outstanding organizational skills
- BS/BA in business administration or relevant field

Miscellaneous:
- There will be an expectation to travel occasionally throughout the US.
- Depending upon the location and workload, travel may be required
- Will be required to participate and qualify for a variety of safety training programs
· This is a safety sensitive position subject to random drug testing
