Qualifications:
-
Bachelors in Social Services, Public Administration, Public Health or related field are required.

Master’s degree in a health-related field is highly preferred.

Demonstrated success in obtaining grant driven funding and proven ability to research grant prospects for proposal writing is also required.

The successful applicant will be able to work independently and manage deadlines; have experience with Microsoft Office; and have experience in researching and writing grants for low income and disadvantaged populations.

The candidate must be able to write clearly and concisely; interpret data using basic statistical principles; and perform budgeting and mathematical functions.

Experience with HRSA and SAMSHA grants and grants management and experience with Ryan White/HIV funding highly desirable.
Job Purpose
The Grant Writer is responsible for researching and analyzing grant opportunities and making recommendations on their feasibility. This position is responsible for the preparation of grant applications including: writing, budgeting and post award contract management in collaboration with appropriate staff in various departments. The Grant Writer represents Nacogdoches Memorial Hospital in the community acting as a liaison with funders and collaborating agencies.
Duties and Responsibilities
The Grant Writer supports the mission of Nacogdoches Memorial Hospital by providing grant writing, research, data collection, and related grant reporting for existing and new programs to ensure program success and sustainability. Typical duties include but are not limited to:

Researches and identifies mission-aligned grant funding opportunities to develop new and sustain existing programs.

Develops and writes high-quality federal, state, local and foundation grant applications and renewals; guides the timely submission of grant proposals ensuring adherence to application guidelines, working collaboratively with the program and finance staff

Develops reports on progress status of proposals and grants received, requested, denied and pending; prepares and files periodic progress reports with grant funding sources in a timely manner for management; monitors calendar to ensure timely submission of required information.

Ensures that funders receive required reports in a timely manner accordance with grant contracts and preferences; coordinates with relevant staff to collect pertinent data in a consistent and timely manner; coordinates with the accounting, finance, and data staff for needed financial information and data/statistics

Maintains knowledge of programs and services offered at various sites within the organization.

Prepares and presents ad hoc reports on grants statistics and other requested topics for management or Board as requested.

Maintains records electronically and in paper files, including final submission packets, grant tracking, and periodic reporting (i.e. monthly/quarterly/ annual reports).

Maintains confidential information in a sensitive and appropriate manner and fulfills all compliance responsibilities related to the position.

Participates in Nacogdoches Memorial Hospital committees as assigned or requested.

Completes special projects as assigned in support of organizational objectives and mission.
