    SUMMARY: To provide students with quality standards-based instruction in the area of Information Technology with an emphasis in Programming and Cybersecurity; encourage student progress; manage an effective learning environment to maximize student achievement; promote academic, social, and citizenship development through leadership and classroom instruction and successful integration of program assigned Career & Technical Student Organization (BPA).

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
    • Utilize and design curriculum and lesson plans to teach programming languages such as Python, Java, and/or JavaScript through codehs.com, code.org, and other relevant programming platforms and applications.
    • Teach programming languages and concepts, instruct students on programming fundamentals, syntax, algorithms, data structures, problem-solving techniques, debugging, and software development principles.
    • Utilize and supplement Cisco curriculum that covers various aspects of cybersecurity, including information technology, networking, routing, Linux and Microsoft operating systems, network security, data protection, cryptography, and privacy issues.
    • Facilitate practical exercises and hands-on activities to give students firsthand experience with cybersecurity tools, techniques, and technologies. This may involve building PCs, setting up virtual environments as well as actual environments with computers, routers, switches, access points, and servers.
    • Set and maintain standards for student behavior that establishes a positive learning environment.
    • Design lessons with an appropriate level of difficulty that provide content in a logical and sequential manner.
    • Model enthusiasm for Programming and Cybersecurity and demonstrate current innovations in the industry, including competition within the global economy.
    • Employ a variety of instructional techniques and media, consistent with the physical limitations of the classroom and the needs and capabilities of the individuals or student groups involved
    • Assess students on a regular basis and provide feedback to enable them and their parents to monitor their progress.
    • Analyze and interpret student data to develop and modify instructional activities.
    • Prepare students academically for district, state, and federal testing.
    • Encourage students to strive to meet their highest potential.
    • Provide effective leadership and guidance as a CTSO (Career and Technical Student Organization) advisor.
    • Establish and maintain industry and post-secondary connections to promote/encourage students’ participation in continuing education opportunities.
    • Help create an Advisory Committee and hold regular meetings to improve the Programming and Cybersecurity pathway.
    • Encourage and/or provide experiences to students in the program for the purpose of leadership development, advanced technical skills attainment, workforce readiness preparation, and college career-readiness.
    • Help develop job shadow and intern opportunities for students.
    • Identify, select, and purchase equipment and supplies necessary to support classroom instruction within budget constraints.
    • Meet the reporting requirements of the Nampa School District and the Idaho Career and Technical Education Division.
    • Implement CTE and Idaho Core Standards, as well as the district’s philosophy of education and instructional goals and objectives, in lesson plans, classroom instruction, unit planning, and assessments.
    • Follow modifications and accommodations as specified in Individual Education Plans (IEPs).
    • Attend IEP meetings and collaborate with special education teachers.
    • Complete IPSI instruction and attend workshops and conference that build professional capacity

    • Assist in upholding and enforcing school rules.
    • Make provision for being available to students and parents for education-related purposes outside the instructional day when required or requested to do so under reasonable terms.
    • Work to establish and maintain open lines of communication with students and their parents concerning both the academic and behavioral progress of all assigned students.
    • Take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.
    • Keep immediate supervisor informed of activities and any issues that may arise
    • Cooperate with other members of the staff in planning instructional goals, curriculum, objectives, and methods
    • Provide needed and requested information on a timely basis
    • Assist in upholding and enforcing school rules
    • Input data in a timely fashion
    • Assume responsibility for his or her continuing professional growth and development by attendance at professional meetings, membership in professional organizations, enrollment in advanced courses, and by reading professional journals and other publications
    • Adhere to The Code of Ethics of the Idaho Teaching Profession adopted by the Professional Standards Commission and the State Board of Education
    • Seek assistance should emergencies arise
    • Represent the school district in a positive manner
    • Complete duties as assigned.

    EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
    • Have an endorsement in Computer Science, Information/Communication Tech, or Business Technology Education
    • Meet the qualifications for an Occupational Specialist Certificate endorsement in Information Systems Programming and Cybersecurity.
    • If qualified for a Limited Occupational Specialist Certificate, complete certification within three years as required by Idaho CTE.
    • Five years’ work experience within the industry, preferred.

    MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Able to conduct basic math functions and manipulate formulas in spreadsheets as needed.

    REASONING ABILITY: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral and diagram form. Ability to define problems collects data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
