Job Responsibilities:

  • Manages the day-to-day operations of the Aviation Department.

  • Manages inspection schedules and work assignments of maintenance staff and other aircraft employees.

  • Determines aviation safety and enforcement needs; and plans, directs, and implements safety procedures.

  • Keeps current with and assures compliance of Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) regulations and all State and local government policies, standards, procedures, and laws regulating aviation.

  • Works with emergency responders to monitor weather and anticipate problems in aviation operations.

  • Assures that proper labor relations and conditions are followed; selects and assigns staff to assure equal employment opportunities in hiring and promotions; and evaluates and verifies employee performance through reviews of completed work assignments and techniques.

  • Comprehensive knowledge of the field's concepts and principles.

  • Leads and directs the work of other employees and has full authority for personnel decisions.

  • Administers departmental policies and procedures, evaluates results and performance, and assists with the development of new or modified budgets, strategic plans, or policies.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Must have thorough knowledge of Air Force and commercial aviation maintenance practices and regulations for maintaining fixed wing aircraft IAW US Air Force and OEM manuals.

  • Must have a demonstrated ability to coordinate the activities of different departments/locations to ensure the timely support of the maintenance process.

  • Must be able to comply with terms of the contract and referenced Government regulations.

  • Must have a results-oriented commitment to the continuing evolution/improvement of the maintenance program.

  • Must be able to Implement policies, plans, programs, and systems established to execute the contract and applicable FAR’s.

  • Must be able to monitor and enforce job safety, practices and hazard prevention in the workplace.

  • Must be able to supervise the maintenance work force through the Maintenance Lead.

  • Must possess leadership and management skills and have a proven track record demonstrating adaptability to change and the ability to respond to challenges in a changing environment.

  • Must be able to communicate effectively with all levels of employees throughout the organization.

  • Must also be able to develop and maintain strong working relationships with internal and external customers.

  • Must be able to obtain and retain a Secret Clearance.

  • Must have thorough knowledge of and the application of quality tools.

  • Must be knowledgeable of problem-solving techniques and have knowledge of Aerospace (AS) 9110 Quality Management System.

  • Monitors maintenance performance against Company policies, procedures, and standards, and provides recommendations to improve safety of operations and productivity of the entire operation.

  • Must have proficiency in various computer programs required, e.g., Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Access, Project, Outlook, etc.

  • Excellent communication, effective leadership and interpersonal skills required.

  • Must be a U.S. Citizen.

Desired Qualifications:

  • 5 years program management experience.
