The Shop Supervisor is responsible for overseeing all shop operations; providing information and serving as a resource to the Director Of Fleet Maintenance; achieving defined objectives by planning, evaluating, developing, implementing and maintaining equipment and shop processes in compliance with established company, OSHA, FMCSA & DOT guidelines and regulations; supervising and directing assigned staff to maintain the local shop.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
- Manage the day-to-day operations of the local shop and assigned Service Trucks.
- Promote a safe work environment; comply with all safety programs; enforce safety rules and good housekeeping.
- Continually introduce best practices through procedures and processes to drive operational excellence.
- Evaluate, troubleshoot and execute best practices for equipment repairs, out- of- service units, break downs and part procurement.
- Conduct equipment audits to ensure Safety and DOT regulations are met and complied with.
- Maintain and build upon local vendor relationships for purchased maintenance repairs.
- Lead direct reports to deliver targeted maintenance productivity results; work volume, direct labor and standard repair times.
- Provide continued employee engagement; develop technical growth and skill development of direct reports.
- Deliver best in class customer service and communication within the customer related functions of the shop.
- Manage local parts and shop materials.
- Assist with or facilitate facility maintenance repairs including snow removal.
- Effectively communicate with appropriate company colleagues to ensure operation's and company's needs are met.
- Manage shop sublet decisions, hold vendors accountable for turn time standards and agreed upon pricing.
- Continuously identify cost savings opportunities.
- Stays abreast of product information, technical changes, equipment upgrades and other equipment specifications as necessary.
- Identify warranty repair opportunities in the daily operation of the shop.
- Other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Experience: 5 years of progressive responsibility which includes Vehicle Maintenance, the development of related policies and procedures and supervisory experience.
Education: A high school diploma or GED required. Bachelors’ degree preferred.
