Job Summary:
Napa Valley winery is looking for an Experienced Lab Technician. This position will aid the production and winemaking in fast and high-volume custom crush winery laboratory, equipped with automated instruments. AND will manage the lab functions when Lab Director’s absence.
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Perform job functions in adherence to company Health and Safety guidance.
- Perform job functions/lab analysis abiding quality control standards and laboratory instrument operating procedures.
- Works long hours as assigned at harvest including night shift and weekend work.
- Occasional overtime during non-harvest period. Able to work any shift with short notice throughout year.
- Ability to accurately complete assignments, projects, and tasks with minimum or no guidance within reasonable duration and to meet strict deadline.
- Attention to details and a commitment to product quality.
- Must have cellar operation knowledge and wine making knowledge.
- Mechanical ability helpful for instrumentation PM.
- Wine microbiology and PCR experience of knowledge helpful.
- Environmental science knowledge helpful.
- Ability to read, to write, to speak and to understand English.
- Proficient in minimum of Algebra
- Proficient in data entry with accuracy and speed.
- Proficient in Microsoft Operating System: Mainly Excel and Word.
- Commitment to excellence and high standard.
- Agility and a willingness to work efficiently with constantly altering priorities with ease and enthusiasm.
- Ability to perform and aid others in strong team environment.
- Knowledge of Vintrace Tracking system helpful.
Education and Experience:
- Minimum education: Own AS degree in fermentation science or related science degree with minimum of 4 years winery lab experience.
- Require one year of college chemistry including lab.
Physical Requirements:
- Exposure to various weather conditions.
- Full body mobility: standing; sitting; climbing stairs and ladders; use of keyboards, use of hands, arms and fingers.
- Ability to lift 50 lbs. (O.K. with help)
