NASCAR seeks a talented professional to join in the position of Sr. Revenue Accountant based in Daytona Beach, Florida.
Responsible for all aspects of assigned revenue contracts for NASCAR and its subsidiaries including review of contracts, monitoring financial obligations, and performing month-end close duties.
Duties include but are not limited to:
- Manage contracts and amendments for multiple revenue streams within Workday and assist with the assessment of revenue accounting implications in accordance with the Company's revenue recognition policies and US GAAP (ASC 606).
- Manage contract related revenue recognition. Determine journal entries, allocations, and adjustments needed to ensure proper revenue recognition in conjunction with the monthly, quarterly, and annual close cycles for assigned revenue accounts.
- At month end, timely review of assigned revenue accounts and contract related liability and expense accounts to ensure all amounts are properly recorded. Prepare account reconciliations for review.
- Record royalty and other usage related revenue items with Workday. Assist in reporting for NASCAR Sub Licenses including verifying the accuracy of calculations and overseeing the payment process.
- Prepare assigned royalty reporting calculations for NASCAR Team Properties payouts and disseminate data to the teams.
- Prepare analysis as required by for tax, Financial, Planning and Analysis and auditors.
- Assist with data integration (automated and manual) from external sales systems and reconciliation between the systems.
- Seeks ways to use technology and/or improve processes for areas of responsibility.
- Assists with projects and other duties, as assigned.
Required skills / experience:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting from four-year college or university and a minimum of three years related experience especially with 606 or equivalent combination of education and experience. Two years public accounting experience highly preferred. CPA certified, or CPA eligible candidate also preferred.
- Ability to read, analyze and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, financials reports and legal documents.
- Must have excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to write reports, business correspondence and procedure manuals.
- Ability to effectively communicate to management and resolve issues.
- Ability to respond to inquiries from customers, business personnel and department management.
- Includes ability to summarize accounting policies for business personnel as necessary.
- Ability to apply concepts such as discounts, interest, fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra.
- Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Strong analytical skills and reasoning ability is required. Ability to identify accounting problems and generate reasonable solutions
- Proficient skills on all company provided hardware and software. Solid experience with accounting systems. Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office products and ability to demonstrate advanced knowledge of Excel.
