Seeking scientifically savvy, client-facing project leaders to join an exciting Nashville  biotech startup.

About NashBio:
We are an exciting biotech company that is fundamentally changing drug discovery & development processes in biopharma. As a subsidiary of Vanderbilt University Medical Center (VUMC), we are leveraging years of rich longitudinal clinical and genomic information to address pressing R&D questions for our clients in the biopharmaceutical and diagnostics industries. We offer data-enabled products and services that reduce costs, speed up activity and improve success all along the R&D pipeline. The company is profitable with a business model focused in two areas:

  1. Leveraging our genomic-linked EMR assets to provide R&D insights to biopharma, diagnostics and other life science customers;
  2. Formation of biotech/healthcare spinouts based on proprietary biological insights derived from the database

As a data company, our technical infrastructure is entirely cloud-based and serverless with footprints in multiple public clouds (GCP, AWS, Azure).  We are a modern cloud-native, data infrastructure team built on the latest technologies.

Position:

NashBio is seeking scientifically savvy business operators to join a growing team of fast-paced  and forward-thinking innovators. Successful candidates must possess an orientation to  customer needs and service, and will be motivated and proactive self-starters who would thrive in the rapidly changing and challenging environment of a startup. In this role, you will work closely with senior leadership to develop scientific insights to guide company deliverables and overall strategy. You will listen to our clients, gain an understanding of their company goals and project objectives, and then work hand in hand with our clinical and computational teams to analyze, synthesize and interpret results generated from our proprietary datasets. You will need to maneuver between conceptual and tactical levels of projects and client conversations with ease. Client projects could include the identification and study of a particular disease population, or the assessment of disease and mechanisms associated with new drug targets. Central to this work will be an ability to think in a logical, structured fashion, work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary environment and effectively communicate your findings to the rest of the team and ultimately to NashBio’s clients.

 


Responsibilities:

  • Solve complex scientific problems pragmatically
  • Manage client relationships 
    • Build client rapport
    • Consult with client to determine objectives and ascertain challenges
    • Lead regular meetings and synthesize results into clear, comprehensive deliverables
    • Manage client communications, sharing an ongoing narrative of project progress, addressing potential issues and offering solutions to move forward
    • Maintain multiple active client relationships simultaneously 
  • Manage client projects
    • Develop and maintain project approach by listening intently to clients to decipher complex and evolving project objectives and integrating with NashBio capabilities and resources
    • Develop and communicate tactical project plan and work collaboratively with internal teams to fulfill project objectives
    • Stay within scope and budget
    • Ensure projects are delivered on time
    • Organize project materials and maintain impeccable project documentation
    • Communicate project status to internal and external stakeholders
  • Advise & collaborate with business development team on feasibility of client projects, including creation of proposal materials and review of statements of work
  • Assist with the development of new collateral, including SOPs, case studies, etc.
  • Work collaboratively with relevant external experts and client contacts when specialized  expertise is needed for client service work
  • Read current literature, attend seminars & conferences, stay abreast of the competitive landscape and updates in the field

Qualifications:

  • Advanced degree in life sciences or related field
  • 5 years of technical/scientific consulting or project management experience in a client-facing role
  • Experience within life science or healthcare services, particularly clinical data and analysis services
  • Experience analyzing real-world data, particularly administrative claims or electronic medical records
  • Understanding of basic biology, especially as it relates to human physiology,  pharmacology, drug-protein interactions, and signaling pathways preferred
  • Experience using data visualization tools (e.g. Looker, Tableau) preferred
  • Project management certification a plus
  • Good feel for clinical indications of diseases is a plus
  • Familiarity with statistics/biomedical informatics is a plus
  • Basic knowledge of one or more relevant programming languages is a plus (e.g. Python,  R, Perl, SQL)
  • Authorized to work in the US

Location:
NashBio is headquartered in Nashville, TN. The Scientific Project & Program Manager position is a remote position and qualified candidates from across the US will be considered.
