Nashville General Hospital is hiring a Controller for Finance as a full-time job in Nashville, Tennessee.
Shift: Day Shift
This position is responsible for planning and directing the financial operations of the hospital including accounting, budget, audits, tax, grants, financial analyses, treasury functions, reimbursement, cost reporting, and other financial planning activities.
Provides leadership for the accounting department by developing goals/objectives, policies and procedures, providing supervision/tutelage; providing oversight in the preparation of operating and capital expenditure budgets. Directs/performs personnel functions for Finance Department. Other primary responsibilities include production of all internal/external financial reports of the hospital in a timely/accurate manner and disseminating appropriately for informed decision-making within the institution.
ControllerRoles & Responsibilities:
- Coordinates accounting functions and financial report preparation.
- Maintaining and reconciling the General Ledger.
- Oversees treasury functions and cash flow projections.
- Oversees all general accounting/reporting for compliance.
- Leads annual external audit process/liaison with external auditors.
- Performs monthly financial analyses/disseminates reports to management as monitoring/decision-making tools.
- Reviews/coordinates operational/capital budgeting processes.
- Provides guidance to staff on various aspects of accounting procedures and processes.
- Provides key management with financial reporting to enhance operational performance.
- Provides financial guidance to departmental management; reports monthly within operational areas of focus.
- Performs financial analyses on ad hoc basis as requested by CFO/senior leadership including service line profitability, ROI, etc.
- Administers timely/effective month end close processes.
- Reviews AR aging and coordinates with Revenue Cycle to facilitate proper reserving and valuation of receivables.
- Oversees preparation/updating accounting policies and procedures.
- Coordinates Medicare reimbursement strategies and reporting processes.
- Coordinates timely distribution of department efficiency reports.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or business/finance required,
(Masters’ Preferred.)
- 5 years as Hospital/healthcare senior accountant, assistant controller and/or Controller required.
- 5 years progressive financial management experience in Hospital/healthcare accounting environment including extensive experience in third party reimbursement required.
- CPA preferred.
