POSITION SUMMARY:
This position will work closely with the Strength and Medical staffs of the Nashville Predators. The primary responsibilities of the position will be biometric and performance data collection and interpretation as well as assisting the Head Strength and Conditioning Coach with individual player needs and team programs. This position will manage all elements involved in the daily implementation of the Predators’ biometrics systems, including but not limited to distribution and maintenance of the system and uploading data. This position will report directly to the head strength and conditioning coach.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
The Biometrics Coordinator’s main responsibility will be the preparation, distribution, collection, and maintenance of the biometrics system. Secondary responsibilities will include live tracking on-ice activities, development of practice workload strategies, and analysis of the data collected. Tertiary responsibilities will include executing physical testing day protocols and assisting the head strength and conditioning coach with implementing training protocols for injured players who remain in Nashville while the team is traveling. Position will perform other duties as assigned by manager and/or hockey operations leadership.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
- Be able to live in Nashville and have reliable transportation to commute to and from our arenas and offices.
- Possess a four (4) year degree from an accredited college or university, with a degree in Kinesiology, Exercise Physiology, Sports Analytics, or related program.
- Must have or be in the process of obtaining National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA) Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) certification.
- 1 year experience working with high level sports teams (NCAA, Minor Pro, Professional level).
- Must be competent with computers (Microsoft Office, iOS, and cloud-based systems). Must have history with heart rate, GPS, and force plate data collection.
- Experience with biometrics systems preferred. For example: Achieve, Catapult, Hawkin Dynamics, etc.
- Understanding of ice hockey and a history of working in a team environment is preferred. Ability to skate and play hockey at a high skill level strongly preferred.
- Professionalism, discipline, attention to detail, punctuality, and work ethic are critical.
- Personality and character must enhance a strong group dynamic.
- Understand the role of biometrics in the decision-making process in a professional hockey environment. Develop valuable communication skills through dealing with athletes and coaches in a team setting.
- Contribute as a valuable member of a multi-disciplinary team in a high-performance environment.
- As a condition of employment, qualified applicant will be subject to a background check, including a criminal history check, driving history and character references.
- Possess a valid driver’s license, possess a suitable driving history and be insurable by the Nashville Predators’ insurance carrier (without conditions).
ESSENTIAL PHYSICAL FUNCTIONS:
- Frequent lifting, bending, walking and handling heavy equipment up to 50 lbs. required.
- Exposure to bright lights, extreme temperatures and loud noise.
- High finger dexterity.
- Ability to stand in an upright position for continuous period of time.
- Excellent speaking and listening skills, requiring the perception of speech.
- Ability to wear face mask and/or Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) for long periods of time.
