The Operations Manager leads the ambulance district operations to ensure quality patient care, operational efficiency, proper staffing levels, motivation and development of staff, and healthy relationships with our healthcare partners and customers and clients in multiple venues.  The Operations Manager will also navigate the market's heavy standby volume.

  1. Ensures operational efficiency of assigned district.
    1. Meets or exceeds unit hour utilization (UHU) budget.
    2. Maintains area AMPS score over 88%.
    3. Maintains operating metrics within stipulated thresholds per Senior Director of Operations, including but not limited to safety score, tickets and sent backs, inquiries, and performance appraisals/career conversations.
    4. Establishes, maintains, and develops political / governmental engagements as dictated by Regional Vice President.
  2. Manages district staffing to ensure customer & patient needs are met.
    1. Optimizes retention of existing staff.
    2. Oversees area recruiting and training programs.
    3. Makes final hiring decisions.
    4. Oversees clearance process.
  3. Leads, motivates and influences employees to maximize the team’s efforts toward achievement of district goals.
    1. Builds/develops a well-balanced, high performing leadership team.
    2. Develops junior leadership to ensure leadership bench strength.
    3. Regularly spends time in the field with frontline employees.
    4. Ensures timely and meaningful internal communications.
    5. Promotes quarterly welfare checks of staff.
    6. Ensures the districts mentorship program meets needs of new employees effectively.
    7. Promotes team welfare, including but not limited to, morale building and team building initiatives, family events, employee physical and mental wellness, etc.
    8. Facilitates staff meetings.
    9. Ensures a safe and productive work environment.
  4. Administers company policies and procedures, as well as the High Reliability Systems Approach.
    1. Develops systems/processes to recognize and manage risk.
    2. Promotes a fair and just culture while analyzing errors and behaviors.
    3. Holds employees accountable to policies, procedures, and performance metrics.
    4. Recommends and implements appropriate corrective action as necessary.
  5. Establishes and grows healthcare partnerships with area hospitals, health systems, nursing homes, and customers.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. High School Diploma or GED.
  2. Previous experience in a supervisor role preferred.
  3. National and/or State certification as an Emergency Medical Technician- Paramedic determined by appropriate state requirements.
  4. Current CPR certification as established by the American Heart Association.
  5. Current ACLS certification as established by the American Heart Association.
  6. Current and valid state-issued driver's license determined by appropriate state requirements (equivalent of a Louisiana Class "D" driver's license).
  7. Must be able to read, write and communicate professionally and effectively with employees and managers.  Must possess the ability to write simple correspondence or reports.  Must possess the ability to effectively present
  8. Must be knowledgeable of company protocols, operational procedures and safety policies.
  9. Must be able to drive large vehicles in normal and adverse conditions.

  3. Must have a sense of urgency for all work performed.
  4. Ability to work under the pressure of meeting strict deadlines.
