Conemaugh Nason Medical Center is seeking a Director of Plant Operations within our Maintenance Department. This position is responsible for directing the overall operation of the Maintenance/Safety/Security Department in accordance with current applicable federal, state, and local requirements to assure that successful programs are maintained at all times.

Essential Functions:

Assesses all Maintenance/Security activities, identifies problems, and corrects areas needing.

Conducts daily assessment of work accomplished within the department. Determines work outcome in terms of efficiency, quality, and productivity.

Assesses safety, fire protection and prevention programs by frequently inspecting work areas.

Makes weekly rounds to check equipment to ensure that equipment is functioning properly.
Schedules repairs and Preventative Maintenance according to manufacturers’ specifications.

Performs monthly assessment of consumption of supplies to detect waste/inefficiency.

Examines on a monthly basis the department’s expense budget for cost containment initiatives.

Plans and implements Environment of Care Policies and Procedures for the facility.

Plans and develops methods involving employee/staff input to solve problems and make improvements in Maintenance/Safety activities in a positive, professional manner using CQI guidelines.

Prepares and submits requests for new equipment and capital expenditures.

Plans, develops, and implements departmental organizational goals and objectives with CEO approval.

Directs the work of the Maintenance/Security Staff and other contract personnel. Works jointly with the Director of Environmental Services for efficient utilization of shared Environmental Services workers.

Prioritizes the daily workflow of the department so that safe, timely, and effective services are provided.

Participates and directs in-service education Programs related to Hospital safety issues.

Chairs the Safety Risk/Hazardous Waste Management Committee acting as a facilitator and soliciting employee and management input.

Coordinates Disaster drills with organizations as per department policy.

Organizational Expectations:

Observes the policies of the hospital by maintaining a clean and safe work environment. Performs work safely at all times with no deviation from safety policies.

Adheres to Corporate Compliance Guidelines and requirements of Federal, State, and local regulatory and accrediting agencies with no deviation from standards.

Attends mandatory annual in-services with no deviation from departmental time frames.

Attends departmental meetings/in-services, department head and CQI meetings as scheduled with no unexcused absences.

Participates in continuing education programs as per job classification requirements.

Respects the cultural and diversity, rights, privacy needs of the patients, employees, and all whom we come in contact with no deviation of hospital policy.

Presents a professional image by appearance, articulation, and behavior. Adheres to hospital and departmental dress codes, including wearing the Nason ID badge, with no pattern of deviation.

Gives evidence of dependability by: Infrequent and appropriate use of sick time (4 or more non FMLA separate instances will constitute a “not met” and require a verbal warning).

Completes all assignments in a reasonable time frame.

Maintains punctuality and gives one hour notice for unscheduled absences.

Promotes appropriate customer service skills by being helpful, courteous, considerate, sensitive, and compassionate to the needs of staff, patients, physicians, and visitors with whom we come in contact with during the workday.

Recognizes own limitations and seeks help from appropriate sources when needed.

Adheres to standards of professional ethics and maintains confidentiality regarding all patient and all privileged work information with no documented deviation from standards.

Demonstrates support of the mission, vision, values, goals, and general policies of Nason Medical Center.

Job Requirements:
Minimum Education
Required: High school education required

Preferred: Post secondary education/training in a HVAC field.

Minimum Work Experience
Minimum of three years’ experience in a maintenance supervisory capacity

Knowledge of mechanical equipment, electricity, plumbing, heating, air conditioning, general construction, and all building and safety regulations required.
