What are the responsibilities and job description for the Packaging Service Technician position at Nassco, Inc.?
PURPOSE:
The Packaging Service Technician is an integral part of the Service team who supports our customers with installation, startup, troubleshooting and repairing of equipment. You are an important representative of Nassco as your role helps our customers. The Packaging Service Technician, under the supervision of the Director of Service, is responsible for performing a variety of Service functions as detailed below:
ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
1.) Provide on-site service repair for Nassco customers.
2.) Install and set-up new packaging equipment.
3.) Develop relationships with Nassco Packaging vendor partners.
4.) Assist in developing and selling preventive maintenance contracts.
5.) Report to and work closely with the Director of Service.
6.) Testing of equipment to determine the nature of the problem.
7.) Repair or replace parts, test, and perform adjustments as needed.
8.) Complete thorough service reports for each job and turn in to the Service Coordinators upon completion of each service call.
9.) Comply with all safety regulations and maintain clean and orderly work areas.
10.) Driving to customer sites to perform repairs.
11.) Build relationships and rapport with all key contacts at each account.
12.) Excellent communication skills.
13.) Ability to trouble shoot, analyze the available information, and make sound decisions.
14.) Set up and test new equipment prior to delivery to customer.
MARGINAL DUTIES:
- Assist fellow Service Technicians, and/or departments when needed
- Ability to travel overnight if needed
QUALIFICATIONS:
- 3-5 years of experience in field service or equipment maintenance
- Proven experience in reading mechanical blueprints and electrical schematics preferred
- Experience working with packaging equipment is strongly preferred
- High school diploma or equivalent. Preferred technical schooling in electricity, electronics, or equipment maintenance for at least two years.
- Ability to understand verbal and written instructions in English.
- Perform basic math functions such as addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.
- Possess a valid Wisconsin driver’s license.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY:
None
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
This position requires being able to bend, kneel, reach out with arms and crouch. Must also be able to lift 75-125 lbs. regularly and can work in tight spaces.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
Work environment includes exposure to dust and variances in temperature due to the warehouse atmosphere. Will also be regularly exposed to fragrances and odors that come from the storage of cleaning chemicals and equipment. Noise level is moderate.
