Organizational Structure:
The Cost Accountant will report directly to the Cost Accounting Manager.
- Prepares weekly raw material variance reporting and review with operations.
- Prepares weekly direct labor reporting and review with operations.
- Prepares weekly temporary labor payroll and submit to accounts payable.
- Prepares both monthly raw material & direct labor variance summary, review with operations and post journal entries.
- Supports bill of material and labor router preparation, 24 Month annual plan and quarterly updates and operational statistics.
- Collects and prepares operational statistical information for monthly reporting.
- Maintains product bill of materials and labor routers accuracy.
- Conducts cost audits of bills of material to update standard costs for finished goods and work-in-process and to ensure Ross and bills of material are accurate.
- Prepares various monthly journal entries.
- Prepares account reconciliations.
- Analyzes month-end variances from plan, and discuss with Cost Accounting Manager, Director, and CFO.
- Prepares, analyzes & interprets cost and margin reporting.
- Assists in PPV maintenance, reporting and billing.
- Learns Billing process to act as back-up when necessary.
- Learns Cash Application to act as back-up when necessary.
- Participates in year-end inventories.
- Interact with financial auditors for yearly financial audits.
- Attends weekly inventory meeting to support Operations, Quality Control, and Material Management with any system or accounting issues.
- Participates in sensory training and evaluation to help ensure the highest quality of our products.
- Suggests ways to control labor and supply costs as well as improve processes.
- Ensures that all work activities are performed with attention to the highest standards for quality, safety and compliance with all appropriate legal and food safety requirements and a focus on continuous improvement.
- Follows all company policies & procedures as well as the GMP's (Good Manufacturing Practices).
- Maintains a high level of safety awareness for an accident-free work place.
- Reports any unsafe or hazardous work conditions or safety-related issues to Management.
- Accomplishs all tasks as appropriately assigned or requested.
- Education, Skills and Experience:
- Bachelor’s Degree (B.S.) in Accounting or other related field.
- CPA or MBA a plus. Cost Accounting classes a plus.
- 2 – 3 years Process Manufacturing cost accounting experience a plus.
Skills and Experience:
- Ability to work overtime, irregular hours or rotating shifts.
- Ability to compute by adding, subtracting and averaging numbers.
- Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from Management and vendors.
- Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
- Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
- Ability to multi-task, be detail orientated, and have good organizational skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft applications.
- Ability to thrive in a constantly changing environment.
