This opportunity is being offered by National Aerospace Solutions, the team selected by the U.S. Air Force to conduct Test and Operations Sustainment at the Arnold Engineering Development Complex (AEDC), Arnold Air Force Base, Tennessee.  National Aerospace Solutions is a limited liability company comprised of Bechtel National Inc. (as lead company) and Sierra Lobo Inc. with teaming Subcontractors nLogic Inc. and Chugach Federal Solutions Inc. AEDC operates more than 55 aerodynamic and propulsion wind tunnels, rocket and turbine engine test cells, space environmental chambers, arc heaters, ballistic ranges and other specialized units located in six states. Many of the complex's test units have capabilities unmatched elsewhere in the United States; some are unique in the world. AEDC is one of three installations which are part of the Air Force Test Center (AFTC), one of six subordinate commands of the Air Force Materiel Command organization and an important national resource.

AEDC’s mission is to conduct developmental test and evaluation for the Nation through modeling, simulation, ground, and flight test.  Execution of the mission requires a large team of highly qualified and dedicated professionals from multiple technical disciplines to effectively accomplish the objectives of our test customers.


Job Summary
This position is a Technical Writer/Editor I, II position working independently supporting the management and team members of the project. Incumbent will be responsible for editing, proofreading, coordinating production of simple to moderately complex documents and other print and electronic media for accuracy, consistency, professional quality, and conformance to appropriate style guide.  May assist in orienting and training document production staff.  Duties require accuracy, judgment, a high degree of initiative, discretion, diplomacy, and knowledge of protocol. 

Job Duties:
  • Reviews document requirements and content issues with customers and/or authors and may coordinate production of project with graphics, document formatting, reprographics and any additional editorial support.
  • May monitor job progress and alert responsible supervisor when schedules appear to be in jeopardy.
  • Assists with standard document formatting/editing/production including electronic comment incorporation, importing graphic files, formatting tables, and developing, using, and applying templates and styles.
  • Assists other publications staff, as required.
  • Assists with development and maintenance of forms.
  • Assists with maintaining and updating of social media sites.
  • Assists in maintaining document, records and resource files, including photos and other support matter.
  • Assists with coordinating schedules between production teams such as publications, reprographics, and vendors.
  • Ensures company policies and procedures and good industrial and office safety practices are adhered to.
  • Anticipates changing priorities and problems.
  • It is a condition of employment to wear company issued PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) in accordance with supervisory direction and company policy.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Basic Qualifications:
  • BA/BS degree in appropriate discipline and zero to 3 years of relevant experience or any equivalent combination of relevant education and progressive and relevant experience. High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Current US citizenship required.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Good oral and written communication skills.
  • Knowledge and understanding of grammatical rules, spelling, composition, and style.
  • Ability to work a style guide.
  • Competent with form development.
  • Organizational and problem solving skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Suite of Products: Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Visio.
  • Familiar with development and implementing process workflows.
  • Knowledge of standard editing/proofreading marks.
  • Knowledge of production methods and techniques.
  • Effective interpersonal skills in communication with customers, co-workers, and supervisors.
  • Ability to compose written communications free of grammatical errors.
  • Must be flexible and willing to take on a variety of assignments.
