- One position, location flexible within the Tidewater (Yorktown) or Richmond areas. Candidate will need to drive between Tidewater (Yorktown) or Richmond areas.
- Prefer local to Tidewater or Richmond areas.
- Candidate would need to be willing to drive own vehicle within the specified areas, mileage reimbursement is available. 3 out of 5 days may have travel involved.
We are seeking an individual to perform environmental compliance functions at a power station in the Yorktown area in addition to two simple cycle combustion turbine sites. The power station in the Yorktown area is currently in operation and also has portions being demolished. The two simple cycle combustion turbine sites are located in Caroline County, VA and Fauquier County, VA. Additional support would be needed for environmental compliance related to Solar Generation facilities in the Tidewater and Northern North Carolina regions. Individual needs to be detail-oriented and a self-starter.
Top Skills Needed:
Candidate should have multi-media environmental experience (air, water, oil, waste, wildlife, etc.) and have the ability to perform the following functions-
- Ensures company compliance with environmental, chemical management, waste management, and permit regulations at a power station.
- Coordinates with and monitor operations and maintenance personnel, to ensure site compliance with environmental, chemical safety, waste management, and wildlife management rules and regulations.
- Inspects or assessments, and provides recommendations on compliance issues to management.
- Collect data, analyze data and prepare records and reports.
- Candidate needs ability to work alongside other environmental personnel on a team and with operations staff.
Nice to Have Skills:
- Work experience with landfills, fossil fuel generation experience, solar construction or generation experience
Soft Skills Required:
- Candidate needs ability to work alongside other environmental personnel on a team and with operations staff.

- Prefer bachelor’s degree in environmental science, environmental technology, etc.
Are there any specific companies/industries or ideal background you’d like to see in the candidate’s experience?
- Prefer experience in a heavy industrial environment or construction. Power station experience would be a plus.
Responsible for ensuring company compliance with environmental, chemical, waste management and permit regulations at a specific work location, or may have responsibility for ensuring the compliance of contracted assets at multiple work sites. Must be familiar with the environmental regulations specific to the work location or, if responsible for contracted assets, the environmental operating permits and regulations specific to work site. Responsible for the safe and efficient operation of work site to comply with regulatory and company standards and procedures. Serves as liaison with external and governmental agencies. Coordinate with and monitor operations and maintenance personnel to ensure site compliance with environmental, chemical safety, waste mgmt, wildlife mgmt, rules and regulations, etc. Conduct inspections or assessments and provide advice or recommendations regarding compliance issues to management.
