What are the responsibilities and job description for the Product Consultant I position at National General?
Job Summary :
The Preferred Product Management Consultant I supports product line launches and implementation in new states and markets including product strategies, rate revisions, new product development, and process improvements.
This role also assists with management of existing products to maintain target profitability metrics.
Key Responsibilities :
- Begins to identify opportunities to improve product strategies, business productivity or service to our agents and customers, recommends solution alternatives, and coordinates with other areas to implement improvements
- Researches production issues, provides solutions, and tracks and monitors progress on any IT fixes needed for issue resolution
- Acts as liaison between PM and IT & Testers / Business Analysts for product initiatives
- Begins to lead initiatives for the business and coordinates with IT in leading product line initiatives including plan development, scheduling, and coordinating team member deliverables, and monitoring implementation
- Begins to build high level IT requirements as needed and provides feedback and support on requirement creation
- Generates monthly reports and exhibits reflecting growth, retention, and profitability metrics
- Assists in development of new products by helping perform compliance review, competitive analysis and building supporting data analysis / exhibits
- Works closely with product manager to implement rating plan enhancements and coordinate various state filings
- Performs industry level research and monitors competitor filing activity within assigned region
- Collaborates closely with project implementation team and other internal departments to ensure accurate implementation of various projects

Preferred Qualifications :
Education and Experience
- Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience
- 2 or more years of related experience preferably with NGIC

- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint)
- Effective verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to learn new applications and systems and process complex data from multiple sources
- Effective organization and time management skills with the ability to work under pressure and adhere to project deadlines
- Strong analytical, quantitative, and problem-solving skills
- Familiarity with SQL
- In-depth knowledge of NPS system
