Job Objective:
Responsible for managing the execution of the internal audit plan spanning across 11 business units that underwrite across 58 legal entities (“NICO Group”). Manages staff from both NICO, Gen Re and internal and external subject matter resources that are responsible for performing compliance, third-party, risk based and ad hoc reviews. Ensures the internal audit work products meet the standards set forth in the International Professional Practices Framework. Manages the completion of the Sarbanes–Oxley Section 404 (“SOX 404”) testing for the NICO Group (including BHSIC and BHHC). Develops audit strategies that support each stand-alone internal audit. Makes recommendations to executive management regarding areas of process improvement. Assists the Internal Audit Director with Audit and Executive Committee communications. Develops reasonable budget to execute a robust internal audit plans. Communicates efforts of the IA group, coordinates efforts with the NICO Group’s external auditors and develop audit approaches that allow for external audit cost reductions.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Internal Audit Manager manages the NICO Group’s internal audit function, including the development and execution of an IA plan.
- Completes IA’s risk assessment that forms the basis for the audits considered for inclusion in the annual plan.
- Reviews the NICO Group standalone risk assessments and NICO Group Risk and Control Framework.
- Develops working relationships with executives throughout the NICO Group in an effort to identify areas of risk that can be addressed through internal audit coverage.
- Develops and communicates Company responses to various external, internal, and regulatory department inquiries regarding prior exam results.
- Manages the work streams of the IA teams executing reviews and provides updates to management.
- Interviews job candidates, recommends personnel actions including hiring, promotions, transfers, disciplinary methods, performance appraisal discussions, salary adjustments, and staffing levels.
- Perform special projects or other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Required:
- Bachelor degree in accounting or related field, or equivalent
- Certified Public Accountant or Certified Internal Auditor or Certified Information Systems Auditor
- Knowledge of Audit Principles
- 5 years of related work experience
- Financial reporting principles
- Knowledge of The Committee of Sponsoring Organizations of the Treadway Commission as its internal control framework
- Personal computer, related software, and basic applications such as Excel and Word
- Insurance Industry
- IPPF Framework
Preferred Knowledge:
- Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter
- ACL data analysis
