National Journal seeks an energetic, detail-oriented Copy Editor to join our newsroom. Candidates must have excellent editing and fact-checking skills, as well as an understanding of Congress and the political landscape.
National Journal takes an analytical, broad-based approach to the news, covering Congress, the White House and administration, foreign policy, and politics and campaigns. We publish an online edition each evening Sunday through Thursday. We also produce a printed edition Monday through Wednesday evenings when the House of Representatives is in session.

Duties:
The copy editor works with the copy chief to develop style and usage standards, and ensure that all published copy is clean and error-free. They work in both our content-management software and our print-layout software. Shifts typically run from early afternoon through the evening.
Qualifications of the Ideal Candidate Include:
A sharp focus and eye for detail and consistency
Staying abreast of AP style and other usage conventions, and how they apply to NJ’s work
Ability to work collaboratively with the editorial team, as well as the print designer
Deadline focus and reliability
A positive, collaborative approach and an interest in contributing to a team
A strong work ethic, and a desire to excel
A full course of the COVID-19 vaccination is required for employment at National Journal
Active contributor to a diverse and inclusive workplace
Employment Type: Full-time
Compensation: The salary range for this role is $50,000-$60,000
Remote Status: National Journal is in Washington, D.C., but requests for remote status will be considered on a case-by-case basis.
