Job description

Perform custodial work and general care for all campus buildings to provide an aesthetically pleasing and functional indoor environment.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Cleans and services campus facilities to ensure the safety, health, and morale of students, employees, and visitors by helping provide a clean, attractive, safe environment with minimal interference to others.

2. Sweeps and mops floors.

3. Vacuums, spot cleans, or shampoos carpets when assigned.

4. Polishes metal or other bright surfaces. Scours glass or enamel fixtures.

5. Cleans vertical and horizontal surfaces that collect dust.

6. Collects and transports refuse, cleans and relines refuse containers with plastic bags.

7. Cleans tops of windows, door frames, and other high places.

8. Washes sinks and other plumbing fixtures and replaces disposables such as paper towels, soap, sanitizer, and toilet paper.

9. Dusts, cleans, and polishes furniture. Completes all cleaning and preparation of student rooms during summer turnover.

10. Utilizes detergents, disinfectants, polishes, finishes, etc.

11. Performs other duties as assigned.

12. Perform general Maintenance duties, changing light bulbs, smoke detector batteries, unclogging sink and toilets and other duties as assigned.

REQUIREMENTS:

Possess essential knowledge, skills and abilities to explain, demonstrate, and perform, with or without reasonable accommodations, the duties and responsibilities of the position.

Knowledge:

• Understanding and following oral and written instructions.
• Performing a variety of custodial services.
• Operating custodial equipment.

Physical Abilities:

• Lift objects (up to 25 pounds).
• Climb stairs
• Climb ladders
• Stand or walk for long periods of time.
• Stand, walk, sit, bend, reach, stoop, kneel, crouch, and crawl.
• Work occasionally in an external environment with exposure to inclement weather, and varying temperatures.

Experience:

• Commercial cleaning experience.
• General Maintenance experience.

Licenses/Certifications:

• Valid Driver's License.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: From $14.00 per hour

• Dover, DE: Reliably commute or planning to relocate before starting work (Preferred)

Experience:

• Custodians: 1 year (Preferred)

• Night Shift (Preferred)
