What are the responsibilities and job description for the Office Support Clerk (OA) position at National Park Service?
The primary purpose of this position is to perform clerical work in office, business, or fiscal operations, such as, answering phone calls, processing mail, maintaining a filing system, record keeping, etc.
Credit will be given for all appropriate qualifying experience. To receive credit for experience, your resume MUST clearly indicate the nature of the duties and responsibilities for each position, starting and ending dates of employment (month/year), and the resume must reflect full and/or part-time or total number of hours worked (i.e., work 40 hours a week, rather than indicating full-time). If part-time, the hours must be annotated to be able to pro-rate the amount of qualified specialized experience.
SELECTIVE FACTOR: This position performs office automation work and typing proficiency is required. You must be able of type 40 words per minute. Words per minute are based on a 5-minute sample with three or fewer errors. In addition, to receive consideration for this position, you must self-certify your typing speed in your application or resume. Candidates who do not meet this requirement by close of this announcement will receive no further consideration for this position.

To qualify for this position at the GS-03 grade level, you must possess at least one or all of the following minimum qualifications by close of the announcement:
EXPERIENCE: At least six (6) months of general experience, which is any type of work that demonstrates the applicant's ability to perform the work of the position, examples of general experience include, but are not limited to, progressively responsible clerical, office, or other work, data entry, receptionist, assist and refer calls and/or visitors, post items to databases, or monitor suspense tracking system; and that indicates the ability perform the duties of this position. You must include hours per week worked.

EDUCATION: Successful completion of at least one year of education above high school (30 semester hours or 45 quarter hours). This education was obtained in an accredited business, secretarial or technical school, junior college, college, or university. You must include transcripts.

Successful completion of a combination of education and experience as described above. For example, three (3) months of the general experience described above (50% of the experience requirement), 15 semester hours of college study from an accredited institution (50% of the qualifying education) as specified above, equals 100% of the total requirement. You must include transcripts.
Volunteer Experience: Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

Responsibilities:
As a uniformed employee of the National Park Service, incumbent serves as a front-line representative providing visitors with accurate information on park resources, history, safety, and access information for the surrounding region, as well as describing interpretive program offerings. The incumbent responds to information requests via email, mail, and telephone and will be responsible for carrying out recurring tasks such as stocking brochures and desk supplies, and keeping work areas organized.Salary : $16 - $0
