What are the responsibilities and job description for the Recreation Fee Technician position at National Park Service?
These positions are located in either Joshua Tree NP, Visitor and Resource Protection, or Lake Mead NRA, Center for Business Operations.

Qualifications:
All qualifications must be met by 11:59 EST when the applicant cut-off is reached (which may be sooner than 06/13/2023).Credit will be given for all appropriate qualifying experience. For current Federal employees, if hours worked per week are not included on your resume, you must submit a non-award SF-50 as part of your application to be used to validate your work schedule and determine the amount of specialized experience that you will be granted. An award SF-50 will not be acceptable documentation for which to consider your amount of qualifying experience. For all other applicants who are not current federal employees, your resume must state either "full-time" (or "40 hours a week") or "part-time" with the number of hours worked per week to ensure proper crediting of specialized experience.
For periods of time that reflect military service, the DD-214 or Statement of Service is sufficient to meet the full and/or part-time hours requirement as the service dates will be reflected.

To qualify for this position at the GS-07 grade level, you must possess at least one of the following minimum qualifications by close of the announcement:
EXPERIENCE: At least one full year of specialized experience comparable in scope and responsibility to the GS-06 grade level in the Federal service (obtained in either the public or private sectors). This experience includes activities such as: performing fee collection, accounting or financial duties to include operating a point-of-sale system; performing recurring or standardized accounting transactions such as remittances and bank deposits in automated financial systems; ensuring accountability of funds and accurate financial record; and resolving software issues that arise in the remittance and/or fee collection process. You must include hours per week worked.

EDUCATION: Successful completion of at least one full year of graduate-level study (18 semester hours or equivalent) that directly applies to the work of the position in a field such as accounting, business, or finance. Successful completion of a combination of education and experience as described above. Example of a qualifying combination: 6 months of specialized experience (50% of the required specialized experience described above) and six months of graduate level classes (50% of the education requirement as described above) may qualify an applicant for this position. Responsibilities:
Recreation Fee Technician positions are being recruited at the following locations:- Cottonwood Cove, Nevada, Lake Mead NRA, GS-07: Career Seasonal, expected to be in non-pay status for around 6 weeks per year. Career-Seasonal appointments are permanent positions and include the same benefits as Career appointments, but do not provide work on a year-round basis. You will work from approximately January through mid-November, and you will be in a non-pay status for the remainder of the year.
- Willow Beach, Arizona, Lake Mead NRA, GS-07: Permanent, year-round.
- Twentynine Palms, California, Joshua Tree NP, GS-07: Permanent, year-round.
- Serve as a front-line uniformed representative of the NPS. Provide current and accurate information and excellent customer service to visitors concerning the NPS area and other surrounding areas of interest. Explain the area's recreational opportunities, including NPS interpretive services, wilderness/backcountry permits, concession operated facilities and services, campground availability, hiking trails, etc. Distribute maps, brochures, and other printed material, inform visitors of potential safety hazards, and provide directions and routes of travel.
- Collect appropriate fees at a park entrance station, visitor center, campground, fee cannister, AFMs, donation boxes, and/or other visitor contact station(s) in accordance with established accountability guidelines for handling government funds. Determine visitor eligibility for the sale of various interagency park passes. Conduct fee compliance checks for visitor registrations and payments at unstaffed fee collection locations such as campgrounds, park entrances, trails, and/or fee stations. Conduct fee compliance checks of campground users to ensure proper payment of fees.
- Use automated reservation systems to process routine, simple payments, transactions, and reservations for campgrounds, tours, tickets, backcountry permits, Special Use Permits, etc. Explain rules and regulations to reservation holders and disseminate park information.
