Job Description We’re looking for an energetic and collaborative communications professional to join Corporate Communications in the NREL Communications Office. The successful candidate will be adept at a variety of communications and have experience with project management and hosting high-level visitors. This position requires excellent presentation and organizational skills, along with the ability to manage multiple projects/visits simultaneously. This position requires the ability to communicate with groups of tremendously varying technical and cultural backgrounds. In this position, you will collaborate with individuals across the laboratory to plan tour logistics, schedule subject matter experts for technical tours, and coordinate details such as reserving rooms, arranging catering and transportation, and creating agendas. You will serve as a campus expert to guide tours and work closely with other subject matter experts to involve their participation when needed and to develop talking points for tour stops. This role will frequently require onsite work at the South Table Mountain campus in Golden and the Flatirons Campus in Arvada. We’re looking for a self-motivated individual with a passion for scientific research who enjoys interacting with people and overseeing details and deadlines with limited supervision. Duties will include: Sharing NREL’s story with visitors and the community at large. Providing logistical support and planning for protocol level tours, visits, and events. Leading general public and virtual tours with team support. Supporting online virtual offerings and being comfortable with online platforms. Maintaining brand-consistent messaging along campus tour routes. Building and maintaining positive relationships with the public as well as internal stakeholders. Coordinating tour agendas and draft run of show documents (cue sheets). Actively contributing ideas for continuous improvement of the visitor tour experience. . Basic Qualifications Relevant Bachelor's Degree and 2 or more years of experience or equivalent relevant education/experience. Or, relevant Master's Degree or equivalent relevant education/experience. General knowledge and application of technical standards, principles, theories and techniques. Frequent application of industry concepts and principles. General knowledge of laws, regulations, principles, procedures and practices related to specific field. Skilled in problem solving, written and verbal communication. Ability to use various computer software programs. * Must meet educational requirements prior to employment start date. Additional Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree in communications, public relations, journalism, marketing, or a related field. A minimum of 3 years of related experience with BS Degree or an MS Degree. Willingness to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple projects and deadlines. Needs to be able to lead walking tours for an extensive period of time. Ability to react positively to rapidly changing circumstances. Project management skills including strong organizational and time management abilities, with the ability to prioritize and complete multiple tasks and projects and meet fast-paced deadlines. Experience coordinating and guiding tours. Keen interest in learning about renewable energy; Experience working in science-, energy sector-, government-, or research-related communications. Ability to distill and explain complex technical information into understandable and engaging content. Strong personal, oral, and written communication skills; ability to confidently speak in front of large audiences. Can-do attitude and collaborative work style. Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team environment. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint). Intermediate knowledge of communications principles and practices. Demonstrated creativity, critical thinking, analytical, and problem-solving skills. Enthusiasm for learning and a proactive attitude toward professional development. Experience adhering to brand and style guidelines. Preferred Qualifications . Annual Salary Range (based on full-time 40 hours per week) Job Profile: Professional II / Annual Salary Range: $63,600 - $104,900 NREL takes into consideration a candidate’s education, training, and experience, expected quality and quantity of work, required travel (if any), external market and internal value, including seniority and merit systems, and internal pay alignment when determining the salary level for potential new employees. In compliance with the Colorado Equal Pay for Equal Work Act, a potential new employee’s salary history will not be used in compensation decisions.
