The Product Line Manager would be responsible for a broad spectrum of technical underwriting, pricing and coverage issues for P&C insurance in the home office team reporting directly to the Chief Underwriting Officer. This manager will support the Product CUO with a ~272M GPW Corporate Accounts, Primary Casualty portfolio, which includes General Casualty, GEMM, Specialty Workers Compensation, Truck Group and USL&H. Roles & Responsibilities: Efficiently handle referrals from underwriters for a diverse array of programs, including primary insurance, exposure rating, loss rating, aggregate risks and unique coverages. Collaborate with the underwriters of AIG Commercial Accounts and Foreign Casualty in producing a risk-adjusted underwriting profit for a variety of Casualty lines and products on both individual account referrals and leading the technical underwriting of portfolios in various lines of business Strong leadership in cross-functional teams ensuring high-quality underwriting, adequate pricing, innovative product development, sensible business processes and regulatory compliance. Provide mentoring, training and skill building to underwriters Foster collaborative relationships with associates in the Underwriting Shared Services Division, Division Managers, Chief Underwriting Officer, Head Actuary, Head Marketing Officer and other associates Partner with Product Line CUO on the following: Serve as UW liaison for audit, claims, and legal on disputes, coverage issues. Serve as designated UW witness (testimony) for claims, legal collections Serve as the Casualty Customer Service Manager (for complaints) for all of Commercial Casualty Participate in WC Committee Meetings (internal and external) Assist with Commercial Accounts UQR Audits and peer review process (UW assignments / account lists, monitoring / Status reports) Update UW S/R Tool and CA Tier Placement tool (specific to Commercial Accounts – small business) Leadership Skills: Strategic oriented, capable of managing vision and purpose while developing organizational capability and efficiencies. Talent assessment and development for bench strength and succession planning. Proven collaborative leadership skills. Strong influencing and communications skills and ability to work across multiple areas of company and industries. Change management and team leadership. External and internal thought leadership. Technical Skills & Expertise: At least 10 years of insurance leadership experience College degree required Sustained track record in casualty underwriting with at least ten years of senior underwriting experience. Strong background in various program structures including but not limited to Guaranteed Cost, Deductibles, Retrospectives and Self Insured Retentions. Strong casualty underwriting experience across small, midsized and large risks for General Liability, Workers Compensation and Automobile Liability. Extensive knowledge of admitted insurance standards, practices and principles. Strong knowledge of optimizing underwriting profits though sound underwriting decisions in casualty lines of business. Excellent analytical and communication skills. High attention to detail and accuracy. Ability to work independently and collaborate with colleagues within and across departments. Ability to effectively manage time and deadlines. Excellent technology skills, including Outlook, Powerpoint, Word, Adobe and Excel. Multinational background desired but not required. For positions based in New York City, the base salary range for this position is $137,000 - $199,000 and the position is eligible for a bonus in accordance with the terms of the applicable incentive plan. For positions based in Jersey City, NJ, the base salary range for this position is $131,000 - $190,000 and the position is eligible for a bonus in accordance with the terms of the applicable incentive plan.
