Position Summary:

With general supervision, provide adjunct faculty-related management processes, practices and collaboration for the National University (NU) centralized talent unit.  Provide integrated strategic guidance and leadership to customers on adjunct faculty affairs to include equal opportunity and affirmative action employment metrics on hiring, promotions, tenure training and development of adjunct faculty   Facilitate project management assignments and respond to best practices in specific situations, as appropriate.    

 

Essential Functions:

  • Serves as Subject Matter Expert (SME) to management and administration on issues related to adjunct faculty selection, offers, contracts, compensation, timekeeping and payroll.
  • Researches and analyzes enrollment metrics and patterns, provides insightful data analysis to determine instructional needs within University departments, as well as, academic support operation staff.  Anticipates future requirement based on analysis including making projections.
  • Creates and delivers scheduling and staffing reports, individual course load reports or Lead Adjunct Faculty and courses in need of instructors to management, to ensure strategic business decisions, including distributing course evaluation/assessment reports to Deans, Department Chairs and Lead Adjunct Faculty.
  • Consults with leadership on the application of adjunct faculty compensation issues within policy parameters, as well as, training and development.
  • Researches, analyzes and reports on complex issues involving faculty employment such as hiring, tenure, promotion, sabbatical leave and/or other leave; researches and assesses policies and conventions related to data integrity and reporting to streamline processes.
  • Provides guidance and consultation for adjunct faculty searches conducted to ensure compliance with relevant regulations, policies and procedural guidelines.
  • Collaborates with adjunct faculty and administration ensuring aspects of adjunct faculty-related human resources practices comply with established University policies, procedures and guidelines, as well as, Federal, State and local laws. Updates course and instructor data into the Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) software daily.

 

 

 

 

Essential Functions (continued):

  • Partners with Talent Acquisition team to anticipate future instructional needs to secure relevant, qualified and prepared adjunct faculty pool.
  • Collaborates with adjunct faculty to assure course resources such as space, instructional material, equipment and other related resources are procured prior to classes.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources Management, Educational Leadership, Organizational Leadership or related field; and, four (4) to five (5) years’ experience in recruiting, hiring and staffing; or equivalent combination of education and experience; and,  
  • Professional certifications in one or more of the following PHR, SHRM-CP, AIRS certification (PRC, CIR, CDR, etc.), preferred.

As a leader, develops goals based on the organization’s vision, mission, strategic goals and objectives.
  • Working knowledge of talent acquisition methodologies including best practices and trends used to attract candidates within a higher education setting, preferred.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to build relationship and collaborate with key stakeholders.  Ability to collaborate with a wide range of individual of constituencies in a diverse community making a positive impression.
  • Intermediate use of computers and Microsoft Office Suite Applications such as Word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook and familiarity with Human Resources Information Systems e.g. PeopleSoft, ADP, SAP, Workday and Student Information Systems (SIS). Working knowledge of Applicant Tracking Systems and recruitment platforms.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to effectively communicate with a wide range of individual of constituencies in a diverse community and exercise discretion while sustaining confidentiality. Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing
  • Work independently and foster a cooperative spirit within a large and/or small team of diverse cultures, while working in a fast-paced environment with multiple deadlines and frequently changing priorities.
