What You’ll Do

What You’ll Do:

The Senior Level Lead Fleet Technician is an off-site position that will manage and perform the maintenance and repairs of equipment for that location. They will be in direct contact with the customer and be the primary day to day contact for that location. Identifying, performing and managing major and minor repairs both in house and sublet with little to no supervision in accordance with Federal, State, and corporate guidelines. The Senior Level Lead Fleet Technician will provide the highest level of mechanical & electrical experience in all areas. They will be an expert in all vehicles major and minor components and systems. This position will address technically difficult diagnostics and repairs in a timely manner. This position will also be a Leader / Mentor and assist in the development and training of lower classified associates. This position will include performing all other duties / skills in lesser classifications

What We’re Looking For

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

• High School Diploma or its equivalent required

• Post-Secondary vocational education strongly preferred

• 8 years experience in mechanical inspections and repairs in a related field

• Must have valid Class A Driver’s License or the ability to obtain one within 90 days

• Ability to understand and adhere to Company Policies in all areas

TRAINING / SKILLS REQUIRED

• 4 plus years experience in a related field of Heavy Truck repairs

• Class B Commercial Driver’s License

• Prior 3rd party or company provided training

• Advanced knowledge and full understanding of Heavy-Duty Electrical systems utilizing the proper Diagnostic Tools

• Able to identify the root cause of failures / conditions on all systems and components along with performing the repairs as required

• Major component rebuilds and replacement experience in engine, transmission, and axle systems

• Must be CFC 609 Certified

• Welding and light fabrication experience

• Acts as a mentor to lesser qualified Technicians

• Actively seek and participate in available training to enhance personal development and stay on top of new systems and repair practices

• Participates in specific training programs as prescribed by VTRL

BASIC TECHNICAL UNDERSTANDING

• Ability to follow all written and oral instructions, Attention to Detail, Dependability, Verbal Communication, Documentation Skills, Inventory Control, Job Knowledge

• Ability to always implement and work in a strong safety environment

• Ability to work alone with little or no direction at times

• Ability to lift a Maximum of 75lbs
