Overview

0.4 FTE, 16 hrs / week, evening shift, every third weekend, holiday rotation

This is not a contingent / prn position.

Urgent Care Hours : Mon-Fri 2 : 30p-10p, Sat-Sun 11 : 30a-8p.

Base pay $19 / hr. Benefits eligible.

Responsible for performing basic supportive care to specified patients / families under the direction and supervision of an RN / Care Manager.

Collects, documents, and reports data to the RN Care Manager but does not interpret data. Demonstrates competence in providing age-appropriate care and service for pediatric patients from birth to 21 years, and selected adults.

Responsibilities

  • Performs clerical office coordination and administrative tasks as necessary.
  • Collects, documents, and reports vital signs such as : blood pressure or mean arterial pressure, heights, and weights.
  • Completes screening questions and documents all items into medical record.
  • Promotes general patient safety and performs minor specimen testing. Holds, positions patients and assists with procedures.
  • Preps all materials and supplies as needed.
  • Remains compliant with HIPAA, maintains professionalism and ensures confidentiality of patient information.
  • Ensures environmental standards are met and all clinic and patient areas are stocked, cleaned, and maintained.
  • Identifies learning needs and attends continuing education as appropriate.
  • Participates in educational activities offered by the business unit.
  • Acts as a preceptor of orientation and training of other PCA staff.

Qualifications

Education : High school graduate or equivalent.

Qualifications : Active STNA license, one-year hospital-based PCA experience, or nursing student who has completed Fundamentals of Nursing course from ACEN or CCNE accredited nursing school.

Certifications : Current CPR, can be obtained upon hire.

Skills :

1. Sound written and verbal communication, interpersonal and problem-solving skills.

2. Demonstrated basic computer skills.

3. Must demonstrate competence as defined in the Patient Care Assistant responsibilities / skills checklist in providing age appropriate care and services to pediatric patients of all ages and selected adult patients.

Experience : One year of comparable experience in a hospital setting within the past 3 years. Nursing student can qualify if they have successfully completed the fundamentals of nursing course(s) of an approved college / school program.

MINIMUM PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Occasionally, 1-33% of the time : Climb stairs / ladder; sitting; lifting / carrying 410-60lbs, 61-100lbs, 100lbs with assistance.

May come into contact with fumes, gases, vapors, biohazard waste, machinery, and power tools.

Frequently, 34-66% of the time : Squat / kneel; reaching above shoulder; repetitive arm and hand use. Lifting / carrying 040lbs;

pushing / pulling 0-61lbs; depth perception-vision. May come into contact with blood, bodily fluids, communicable diseases or pathogens, chemicals, and electricity.

Continuously, 67-100% of the time : Standing, walking, audible speech, speech clarity and hearing acuity. Color vision, seeing far / near.
