We have an great opportunity for an Assistant Director of Nursing in our beautiful facility located in Wilmington, DE,
The Assistant Director of Nursing (ADON) position includes a host of diverse responsibilities across both clinical and managerial functions, including:
- Assisting with developing nursing service objectives, performance standards and various policies/procedures for all categories of nursing personnel
- Evaluating resident care as it relates to needs, family involvement and the physician’s plan of care
- Assessing resident responses to medication and treatment, and providing skilled recommendations for necessary nursing next steps
- Managing emergency situations and, in the absence of a physician, initiating life saving measures, as appropriate
- Assisting with conducting daily resident rounds and initiating corrective action, as needed
- Assisting with conducting interviews and making the hiring decisions regarding all new nursing department personnel
- Assisting with overseeing nursing orientations and new personnel training, as well as comprehensive in-service programs for licensed and unlicensed staff
- Assisting with overseeing nursing educational programs geared towards geriatric residents and residents of varying ages, as well as programs designed for families and external caregivers
- Assisting with the planning and he implementation of the nursing department budget, and ensuring all team members work within these guidelines
- Assisting with directing the allocation of nursing service equipment and supplies within the facility, to maximize efficiency and economical utilization
- Working closely with the Director of Nursing regarding the management of clinical policies and procedures
Qualifications for the Assistant Director of Nursing (ADON) position:
The Assistant Director of Nursing (ADON) position reports directly to the Director of Nursing, and will serve as the day-to-day leader for the nursing department. As such, advanced training in nursing supervision/management is critical, as is sound medical and professional judgment, geriatric experience and top-notch interpersonal skills are essential.
- Professional requirements include a current RN license, preferrably in the state of Delaware
- Aminimum of 3-5 years supervisory or administrative experience in a long term care setting, preferably in Assistant Director of Nursing (ADON) role or an RN management role.
- A strong knowledge base in state and federal regulations and have proven leadership and administrative skills, along with a professional demeanor.
