Position Overview:
Nationwide IT Services (NIS) is seeking a Network Administrator to join its flagship contract as part of the Telecommunications team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for providing onsite network administration support such as installation/configuration, testing and troubleshooting network devices at our customer's site in Reston, VA. The candidate will report to the Telecom Task Lead and collaborate with other members of the Telecom team to support networking needs and requirements.
Duties and Responsibilities:
• Responsible for providing hands-on support of network equipment including (but not limited to) switches, routers, servers, firewalls, circuits, controllers and other telecommunication devices/technologies by vendors such as Cisco, Aruba and Juniper
• Collaborate with other members of the Telecommunications team as needed whose support activities include cabling as well as voice/PBX/firewall support and network administration at other customer sites/locations.
• Work with customers and other team members to analyze/troubleshoot/resolve issues with network equipment
• Assist in setup/configuration of network devices as per agency's security protocols and industry best practices
• Work with customers and other team members to analyze/troubleshoot/resolve issues with network equipment
• Prepare network documentation such as diagrams and SOPs as needed
Job Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related field required.
• 6-8 years of hands-on experience with network devices/technologies including (but not limited to): switches, routers, servers, firewalls, circuits, controllers and other telecommunication devices/technologies by vendors such as Cisco, Aruba and Juniper
• Experience/knowledge of network protocols such as TCP/IP, SNMP, DHCP, ARP, IGMP
• Strong verbal/written communication skills
• Ability to multi-task and support multiple applications
• Must be US Citizen or Authorized to Work in the United States.
• Ability to obtain and retain a Public Trust clearance
