What are the responsibilities and job description for the Post-Doctoral Researcher position at natl bueau of econ?

NBER’s Post-Doctoral Researcher on Transportation Economics, who will work at the organization’s Cambridge, MA, headquarters, will conduct research on the economics of transportation, while also participating in a multi-year project on the Economics of Transportation in the 21st Century (ET21C) with support from the U.S. Department of Transportation through the National Science Foundation. The ET21C initiative is directed by Edward Glaeser, James Poterba, and Stephen Redding. Potential topics might include the economic analysis of transportation infrastructure, the effects of new transportation technologies such as vehicle electrification, the role of the transportation sector in reducing carbon emissions and adapting to the effects of climate change, the impact of transportation policy and initiatives on the labor market and the macroeconomy, and the distributional effects of access to transportation services. The researcher will also support the development of a data archive that will enable future research in transportation economics and will help plan the ET21C initiative’s annual conference.

Applicants must have completed their PhD by June, 2024. Applications from researchers who are just completing their PhDs, as well as from researchers who may be on leave from a college or university position, are welcome. Applicants must be ready to start no later than July 1, 2024; earlier start dates are also possible.
