Natural Habitat Adventures is looking for a driven, passionate, highly capable, organized and fun individual to join our field operations team. The Homer-based Field Operations staff member is responsible for providing logistical support and assistance to the Trip Owner, Field Operations Manager, Expedition Leaders and Bear Camp Manager. This is a late-May through mid-September contract, field-based position that requires the ability to adapt and thrive in a dynamic environment with many variables.
Sample responsibilities of this position may include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Be the first line of defense for any on trip issues, including: anticipate and mitigate scheduling conflicts, manage Expedition Leader requests, develop alternative solutions for trip disruptions, and inform vendors of changes as needed
- Communicate directly with our Homer operations team to ensure efficiency in support of our Alaska Bear Camp
- Manage any last-minute schedule interruptions (bad weather, cancellations, etc)
- Provide in person assistance to Expedition Leaders and guests in a professional manner
- Address any partner relationship issues with Trip Owner and Field Operation Manager in a timely manner
- Acquire, manage, and track petty cash transactions; manage credit card spending by Homer Ops team
- Guide field staff in growing sustainable travel practices and work with partners in the field to improve operational sustainability
- Provide shuttle services to guests, Expedition Leaders, and Nat Hab staff when needed
- Assist with rescheduling of meals informing both Expedition Leaders and vendors
- Work with restaurants to ensure expectations and dietary requirements are met
- Work with hotels to correct rooming issues provide suitable room types for guests with mobility limitations
- Work with Adventure Inventory Manager to handle vehicle issues in the field
- Work with Adventure Inventory Manager to manage any additional season gear needs
- Manage end-of-season inventory
- Comply with and promote all safety procedures
TIME & SEASONALITY
While your hours will vary from day to day, it is virtually certain that you will need to work long hours every day in order accomplish our goal of ultimate customer service and ensure our Alaska operations run smoothly. It is understood that at times, it takes very early mornings and late evenings to accomplish our goals.
This is a contract-based position starting in late May and ending in mid-September.
REQUIREMENTS
- Three or more years of operational experience in the field
- Three or more years of customer service experience
- Proven leadership abilities, including a strong track record of dependability and interpersonal skills
- Proven ability to thrive in a fast-paced, sometimes chaotic environment
- Ability to work collaboratively with different people and partners
- Be able to lift items up to 50 pounds
- Experience working in the travel industry preferred
- Valid driver’s license and clean driving record
- Certification in First Aid/CPR
- Must abide by all NHA polices regarding COVID-19.
COMPENSATION & BENEFITS
Aside from daily compensation, Nat Hab provides transportation to/from location for any travel, as well as branded gear. This position is not entitled to tips or per diem.
