Engineering Manager

Position Summary:

The Engineering Manager will be responsible for design activities for all sustaining, requisition, and new product introduction. This person will have technical management responsibilities within the engineering and product development organization while supporting the full cross functional organization. 

Qualified candidates will possess a Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering with a Masters preferred and more than 2 years of product design and development experience. In addition, candidates should have minimum of 8 to 10 years total experience, with 3 to 5 years in a Managerial position and preference will be given to candidates with Lean Manufacturing or Six Sigma experience and ISO 9001 experience.

Job Requirements:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited college or university 
• Minimum 5 year’s design experience in piping applications
• Solid interpersonal and leadership skills
• Self-directed and ambitious
• Adapts well to changing priorities
• Ability to navigate ambiguity
• Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills with written, verbal, and communication skills
• Experience with customized and consensus technical specifications
• Experience in design of products for fluid piping applications
• Working knowledge of various design and regulatory requirements such as: 
  1. Code of Federal Regulations Title 49 Part 192
  2. ASME BPV code
  3. ASME B31.8
• Familiarity with manufacturing processes such as rolling pressing, forming, welding, machining, and mechanical assembly. 
• Proficiency with MS Office (Outlook, Excel, Word, Access, PowerPoint) 

Essential Job Functions/Responsibilities:

• Create a culture of empowerment, transparency, and simplification.
• Learn all essential activities of subordinates to act in required capacity as a backup for absence or to support short cycle requests. 
• Develop a strong team with complete engineering depth and expertise to fully support the Pipeline Solutions product lines. 
• Manage the sustaining design, prototype, validation, and cost out activities and release robust product line enhancements for use in natural gas and water / wastewater applications. 
• Maintain ERPLX Item Master and Bill of Material information.
• Research and assign Harmonization and Tariff codes in compliance with United States International Trade Commission policy.
• Ensure engineering process and rigor is strictly adhered to while maintaining 100% OTD for internal and external company commitments. 
• Work closely with the product line managers to ensure the top priorities of the business are being worked on. 
• Support the manufacturing leader to ensure any line quality or stop issues are immediately resolved and create a culture of “all hands-on deck”. 
• Work with manufacturing, quality, and regulatory groups to develop, qualify, and implement new or improved processes. 
• Coordinate engineering responses to Non-Conformances, Customer Concerns, technical questions, and regulatory reviews. 
• Lead design related technical issues and drive root cause analysis using Lean / Six Sigma tools with clear documentation, communication with the cross functional teams.
