What are the responsibilities and job description for the Environmental Educator and Assistant Teacher position at Nature Walk Montessori School?
Calling all educators and nature lovers!
We are looking for a talented, creative, enthusiastic educator who wants to make a difference in the life of students.
You will work in a multi-age, student-centered, nature-based setting, assisting the lead teacher in guiding the students through a rich, open-ended curriculum, while giving them autonomy and freedom to pursue their interests.
You will be part of a learning community based on respect for each other. As such, you will build meaningful, respectful relationships with each student while fostering a nurturing and stimulating, non-competitive environment. You will role model social skills and classroom behavior expectations appropriate to the age group.
You will prepare and maintain a clean and orderly classroom environment. You will supervise and guide outdoor activities in all kinds of weather. This is a year-round job: in the summer months, you will join our nature immersion summer program.
You will have the support of an extraordinary team of committed staff, collaborating in planning, generating ideas, and learning from each other.
You will be able to further your education by learning about our methodology and attending professional development sessions.

Requirements:
The right candidate has a Bachelor's degree in areas Environmental Sciences, Education or related fields, loves nature and spending time in the outdoors, and believes that every student deserves to be taught in the way they learn best.
Our staff understand and promote ecological responsibility and respect for all members of our school community. We expect our faculty to be involved and active in the school community. Confident, professional demeanor and a sense of humor are important characteristics. Candidates must be able to communicate effectively with students, parents, colleagues and others.
