Description

Summary

The Director of Operations (DO) reports to the Golden Gate Campus Director and provides leadership and management of all aspects of Golden Gate campus operations for the residential Environmental Science and Conference programs. The DO is responsible for successful execution of all program logistics and exceptional customer service. As part of the Golden Gate Leadership Team, the DO will develop strong working relationships with the Directors of Facilities, Education and Sales and other campus staff to ensure high levels of productivity and collaboration. The DO will also build and leverage strong partnerships across NatureBridge, particularly with the Education, Sales and Marketing, and Finance functions.

Staff size at the GOGA campus was reduced due to COVID-19 and is expected to grow over the next year as schools and conference groups return to residential programs. This role will lead the regrowth of the operations department while holding their direct reports responsibilities until they are onboarded.

 

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

Leadership and Management: Work across departments to lead effective teams in delivering exceptional overnight learning experiences for our participants. Oversee all aspects of campus operations, including, but not limited to, logistics, budgeting, sales, risk management, and external partnerships. 

Administration: Ensure that operations meet federal health and safety standards, and ensure a high level of customer service for all participants. Oversee contracts, maintenance, and use of equipment and facilities, and respond as need to the campus urgent response system.

Supervision: Oversee the hiring, training and supervision of Operations staff that include 1-3 Operations Managers and 2-4 Site Managers. Provide backup support as needed for each direct report.

 

Operations Manager Responsibilities, held through spring 2022

The Operations team provides exceptional customer service and helps to ensure a welcoming and supportive atmosphere for all participants. The Operations Manager (OM) serves as the primary steward of program operations and implementation, and efficiently manages logistics for groups and participants. The OM leads communication with school groups and ensures accurate information is collected and disseminated to all program departments in a timely manner. The Operations Manager manages the logistics of Environmental Science programs, maintains all office equipment and supplies and supports the Conference, Facilities, Camp, and Kitchen teams as needed.

Qualifications include: 

  • Five or more years of experience in nonprofit management or school administration, or equivalent combination of education and professional experience.
  • Strong leadership and management experience and ability; previous experience leading and developing teams and individuals across multi-functional areas.
  • Proven project management skills; highly detail-oriented with excellent planning and execution ability and multi-tasking skills.
  • Strong technical skills in technology platforms, Microsoft office suite, Salesforce and other database management systems
  • Willingness to travel and work occasional evenings and weekends.
  • Must have a valid drivers license.

Working Conditions

This job operates both in a professional office environment and in an outdoor setting. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is exposed to weather conditions prevalent at the time.  The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. Occasional weekend and evening work may be required.
