Department - Maintenance FLSA: Non-*Exempt Type: *Full Time Regular
POSITION SUMMARY
Responsible for:
· General maintenance and repair of County Courthouse and other County buildings, equipment and grounds.
ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIPS
1. Reports to: Facilities Construction and Maintenance Supervisor.
2. Directs: This is a non-supervisory position.
3. Interacts with: co-workers, County officials, other County employees and the general public.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES
- Inspects and identifies equipment or machines in need of repair;
- Troubleshoots issues to determine necessary repairs;
- Plans repair work using building blueprints or equipment manual as needed;
- Performs general repairs that do not require a specialized technician (ie: repairing drywall, painting, repairing doors and other building fixtures);
- Performs routine maintenance on building systems;
- Cleans and assists with upkeep of the facilities;
- Orders supplies and materials needed for repairs and maintenance;
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
- Ability to receive and follow instructions from Maintenance Supervisor;
- Knowledge of general carpentry and repair;
- Ability to use hand tools and power tools;
- Excellent organizational and time management skills;
- Maintain a clean and orderly work environment;
- Able to communicate effectively orally;
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers and the general public;
- Able to read, understand and perform mathematical calculations to safely operate equipment;
- Knowledgeable of safe techniques to properly use hand tools, power tools and other specialized equipment;
- Appropriate safety precautions must be observed;
- Possess a valid Texas Driver’s License.
EDUCATION
- High school diploma or GED;
- Related experience preferred;
- On-the-job training offered.
WORKING CONDITIONS
- This position is primarily inside the county buildings (outside duties as needed). It has frequent contact with the public. The noise level varies, but is usually moderately quiet.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential duties of this position. While performing the duties of this position the employee is frequently required to talk, hear, see, sit, stand, kneel, climb, feel, and use fingers to handle and arms to reach. The employee is required to be able to stand and walk for prolonged periods of time. The employee must be able to climb ladders, bend and/or crawl into awkward, tight spaces. The employee must be able to lift up to 50 pounds regularly. Specific vision required by this job includes both up close and distance vision.
