Delivering a great customer experience is at the heart of our proposition, and ensuring we have a high quality, robust and performant product is critical to achieving this. The QE Manager is accountable for ensuring the end-to-end quality of the DTC consumer apps, ensuring that the appropriate levels of testing have been completed before releasing new capabilities and features to our customers. This position will be responsible for delivering against our end-to-end QA strategy, and ensuring it is consistently executed, by the QA teams across the organization as well as those directly under the positions leadership. Reporting to the Director of Quality Engineering, he/she will work closely with QA teams across the Comcast/Sky/NBCU family of companies by leading on core QA initiatives, building collaborative working groups, sharing knowledge, expertise, tooling and ensuring a robust and efficient approach to quality assurance. The role will also serve as a leader for QA specialist and QA engineers which will report directly to the position. Successful candidates will bring a breath of staff leadership experience as well as a strong background in QA engineering expertise.
- Responsible for the technology strategy of end-to-end quality assurance, ensuring our E2E QA team have processes and tooling in place to support DTC propositions and QA counterparts
- Focus on QA engagement within a workstream model consisting of frontend development in the areas of Client Experience,Discovery and Data
- Demonstrate ownership in asserting QA planning and delivery efforts with DTC Tech Delivery teams
- Focus on system integration and coordination of end-to-end testing functions, including test plan strategies, troubleshooting and defect tracking.
- Collaborate with cross functional technology teams to ensure a coherent approach to identify business use cases and acceptance criteria, cross team dependencies, oversee test planning and execution efforts, and support runbook execution for operational handoff before production deployment
- Responsible for resource capacity management and QA effort estimations for core DTC feature roadmap initiatives
- Work with distributed QA teams to support the DTC technology strategy as required, and be accountable by serving as a gatekeeper of the customer quality of experience.
- Plan, organize and monitor the test execution from QA team which include but not limited to: Planning & analysis, test case design, test plan review, test execution and test reporting
- Exercise effective defects management process by reviewing overall defects to determine impact to overall project plan and deployment schedule
- Assist in defining appropriate test metrics to measure overall QA program in delivery, productivity and defects ratios.
- Ability to identify automation scope and use cases to support Automation First initiative to drive efficiency and ROI.
- Demonstrate leadership capability and effectively communicate with QA Director and upper management to synthesize relevant information on QA initiatives, milestones, success criteria and risk mitigations
- Proven working experience in building QA Metrics/Defects Reporting Dashboard by leveraging analytics toolsets like Tableau and/or PowerBI
- Provide device/lab management support by maintaining installation/support documentations, device models and release updates across QA and Product teams
- Provide coaching, guidance and leadership to the QA team members under the role's leadership on 'best practice' and evolve the process improvements functions of the group
- Responsible for the mentorship of staff and ensuring that each staff member under the role's leadership is accountable, trained and knowledgeable in the area of execution.
- Accountable and responsible for the hiring of staff
- Bachelor/Master degree with background in Computer Science or Technology or other related field is strongly desired.
- Minimum 8 to 10 years' experience working in software quality assurance, with at least 5 years in a management role.
- Expert knowledge of testing methodologies and best practice, and defining test strategy for broad initiatives; experience working with remotely located engineering and QA teams a plus.
- Demonstrable experience with agile delivery methodology, test tools and defect management.
- Knowledge of automation testing and tooling, and experience of utilizing at the scale of DTC, ideally within the media industry
- Analytic and reporting experience - using source data to drive KPI reporting and support clear exec level narratives.
- People management skills, including recruitment, training and resource allocation
- Data collection/analysis, management, problem analysis/solving
- Detail oriented with strong communication skills (verbal and written)
- Vendor management and experience in tools evaluation and implementation.
- Experience with JIRA, Slack, TestRails, Quality Center or similar test case management tools
- Experience in defining and maintaining automation framework
- Understanding of DevOps principles
- ISTQB certified
