Job Description
NBC Universal’s Owned Television station in the San Diego area, KNSD/KUAN-TV, is looking for a Bilingual Meteorologist.
- Implement NBC 7/T20’s philosophy of being the most accurate and trusted source for disruptive weather on all platforms
- Tell the market’s weather stories in a way that connects with and captivates viewers on all platforms
- Develop innovative and creative ways of presenting the daily weather story
- Work with the weather team and producers to create complete coverage of weather stories
- Breaking Weather Cut-ins
- Use of social media daily and especially during severe events
- Prepare and post forecasts for multiple platforms
- Be available at any time dangerous weather conditions occur
- Keep producers and managers informed of upcoming weather conditions for coverage plans
- Some live reporting and attendance at community and weather-related events will be required
- Make public appearances on behalf of station as an ambassador for the company
- Salary $90-$125k
Qualifications
- Required Qualifications
- Minimum of three years experience as a television meteorologist
- Experience with severe weather coverage
- Degree in meteorology. Certificates, seals and correspondence courses are not acceptable substitutes for more formalized training
- Bilingual
