What are the responsibilities and job description for the Payroll Manager position at NBME?
POSITION OVERVIEW
NBME's Finance unit is currently seeking to hire an experienced and knowledgeable Payroll Manager to manage all aspects of the payroll function. This position will own and manage the payroll process, including oversight of all payroll policies and procedures, reporting, internal controls, and compliance with payroll tax laws across multiple state and local jurisdictions.

RESPONSIBILITIES
- Manage all payroll functions for NBME and the NBME Retirement Income Plan
- Process bi‐weekly multi‐state payroll for approximately 500 employees
- Process monthly NBME Retirement Income Plan payroll for approximately 200 pensioners
- Work closely with Human Resources to ensure all new hires, terminations or changes to active employees are reflected accurately and timely in the payroll system
- Ensure proper payroll taxes are setup and process deductions and garnishments
- Oversee the payroll functions associated with the NBME 401(k) Plan and ensure the appropriate employee and employer contributions are processed accurately and timely
- Prepare payroll reconciliations and journal entries
- Run periodic payroll reports as needed; develop new reports to support business needs if necessary
- Support or lead new or emerging changes to the payroll function including working with colleagues both internally and externally to register for state income tax withholding and/or state unemployment contributions in new states
- Continually assess the internal controls associated with the payroll function and implement improvements as required
- Act in the capacity of a subject matter expect for payroll‐related matters within the organization
- Perform special projects associated with payroll as needed
QUALIFICATIONS
Skills and Abilities
- Experience with ADP WorkforceNow
- Experience with Oracle ERP
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, etc.)
- Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) preferred
- Hands on payroll experience required
- Supervisory experience not required
Experience
- 5 years of progressive payroll experience
Education
- Bachelor's Degree in accounting, business administration or related field preferred
